Darn, I was hoping for a drop today 😔

Well the Targaeryn’s are deeply insectuous. 1) Aegon The Conqueror was married to his two sisters; 2) King Jaeherys (the old king in the first ep) and Queen Alysanne (who Rhaenyra mentions earlier in this episode) are siblings as well; 3) Viserys and Daemon’s parents are siblings; 4) Viserys and Aemma (Rhaenrya’s mom) were cousins (their parents are siblings); 5) Daenery’s parents were also siblings, 6) Jon and Daenerys are aunt and nephew. And those are just the more talked about Targaryens/the ones you might know of as of right now. Also the Baratheons are related to the Targaeryn’s because not only have the two families married into one another a few different times but their all descended from Oris Baratheon who was the bastard brother of Aegon The Conqueror. Princess Rhaenys (“the queen who never was”) her mother (who was also siblings with Viserys, Daemon and Aemma’s parents—they’re a few of King Jahaerys and Queen Alysanne’s children, who were also the longest reigning Targaryen monarchs) is one of the few Targaryens who married into the Baratheon family. Which is why in GOT, Robert was suited to take the throne after he won the rebellion because not only is he as descendant of Oris Baratheon but also because his grandmother was also a Targaryen princess, can’t remember her name tho lol but I do believe she is the sister of Maestor Aemon (from the Night’s Watch in GOT) along with Dany’s grand/great grandfather. Same thing with the Velaryon family.. Many people from both families have married one another. Just keep in mind that the Targaryens, Velaryons and Baratheons are more related to each other than most people realize lol and there’s more incestuous marriages/relationships but those are just the ones you need to know for now lol (its a lot) Sorry I know thats a lot to read but hopefully it helps lol you should consider watching the GOT narrated History & Lore on YouTube (narrated by different cast members from GOT), I think there’s maybe 6 or 8 different videos but they’re a little mixed up with different character’s perspective on each topic, so you might hear the same story from like two or three people — HOWEVER, there are a lot of spoilers in some of those videos about the events in House of The Dragon. I have always been obsessed with the Targaryen family because their family's history is very fascinating and tragic in many ways. But also just like every other piece of his stories, GRRM obviously took inspiration from real life royals when writing majority on his characters and I’m a huge history nerd especially when it comes to monarchies.

30:50: "He's pulliomng away all of a sudden? Daemon is encouraging Rhaenyra to TAKE what she wants (and not worry about consequences), so he's not giving it to her easily, even if he wants it as well. Making her more reckless serves Daemon in multiple ways, not least of which will be annoying his brother. 32:50 And as you see, it worked. There WILL be consequences. 41:00 "Did he WANT to be seen?" Probably, since it allows him to flaunt his bad behavior. More importantly he wanted Rhaenyra to be seen. Daemon needs to undercut Rhaenyra as the Heir if he's to take her place. But he's smart enough to be subtle about it, making Rhaenyra think he was doing her a favor. But notice he never told the King he had sex with Rhaenyra, he simply didn't deny it. That plants the seed of doubt but leaves him wiggle room if he needs it. Viserys isn't sure what to believe about Rhaenyra and Daemon, but for him (1) as he said, it doesn't matter whether it's true or not, only perception matters; and (2) having her drink the "Plan B" potion will take care of the problem IF there is one, and likely only make her sick for a while either way, so best drink it.

"She kinda gets a kick outta Daemon." —Amber Charity. (Sure, I can see that; after all, they are family.)

Daemon is so interesting in this episode. He had multiple reasons for why he did what he did. He knew otto had spies at the brothel and wanted to expose him as reaching and self interested. By getting caught with rhaenyra at the brothel he was trying to force his brothers hand and allow the union bc nobody else would want someone "sullied". The interesting part is he was definitely using rhaenyra for his own gain, but once they are at the brothel and he realizes how much she actually likes him, he cant go through with it and his conscience rears its head. He didn't realise how much he actually cares about her until then. I also love how you can see how truly hurt rhaenyra was by what he did when she tells alicent that he abandoned her. She looked devastated. She also took off the necklace he gave her. Thats also the only reason she went to sir criston.
