2025-06-08 21:13:39 +0000 UTCSo one of the biggest changes that they’ve made in the show from the books, is that in the books the Velaryon family have the traditional Valyrian white blonde hair like the Targaryens do and that they have the same caucasian complexion. And also Princess Rhaenys (Laenor and Laena’s mother) is half Baratheon and as you may remember from GOT, the Baratheon black hair is very dominant and in the book she’s supposed to have black hair as well instead of the white blonde hair that all the Targaryens and Velaryons had. With those specific changes it makes it more obvious that Harwin Strong is their father, where in the book its speculated that they might be his children but no one knew for certain. Also I would like to just say that yes it does look bad and it does put her kids at risk to be the children of another man.. HOWEVER, people tend to forget that Rhaenyra is the heir to the throne, not Laenor. Yes its wrong but later on she does mention how they tried to conceive but it didn't work out.. But with that being said, as the heir to the throne, Rhaenyra being their mother matters more because bastards can always be legitimized. I know people don’t really care about that part and have a difference in opinion on it lol but if Laenor was the heir and Rhaenyra tried to pass another man’s children off as his then that would be a huge issue. And yes it is unfortunate that they had to swap actors/actresses for some of these characters but this particular timeline in Targaryen history is supposed to take up like 20+ years, so the aging up was necessary. But I think all the actors/actresses (past and present) have all done a phenomenal job!
