People who read the books and then react negatively to movies or television shows made from them sort of make me scratch my head. When reading a book sometimes you must pick a reason or an unexplained plot line to decide how in your mind it turns out. Since this is what the writers of the video art must do as well, don't criticise what you have done when reading the book. Sometimes decisions are made in how to advance a plotline due to multiple reasons in the production, sometimes they feel it's to improve the story. The big question is, did you enjoy the movie or show, or did you not. If you did not, then why watch it again while others react and then complain how it wasn't the same as the book?

I think because of what had just happened with Daemon who always does whatever he wants, she probably didn't think Cristan was going to catch feelings the way he did. But also she's still very young/younger than both men are, so she probably hasn't fully grasped how serious intimate relations can be. Especially as someone who is raised to believe that her whole life's purpose is to serve the crown/her family's legacy in whatever way that may be.. so she's probably seeing it as reckless fun and assuming that he would see it in that way too because of her position. Also (this may seem a little off topic) as someone who has read the books, I know a lot of people disagree with a lot of the choices they have made for the show. HOWEVER, the book Fire & Blood is supposed to be a collection of Targaryen history but it's said multiple times throughout the book that there's a difference of opinions on certain details and speculations and that a lot of the things mentioned are possibly rumors. So I try not to be so critical when it comes to HOTD because they're able to take add or change more than GOT would be able to. With GOT the books are following things as they're happening vs Fire & Blood being a Targaryen history book that may or may not be entirely accurate. But I mention this because in the book it's speculated that MAYBE Daemon killed his wife or had someone else kill her. In this episode they obviously show that he was involved in her death.. And unless you've read the book you won't notice these things but there are more situations like this in later episodes as well.

2025-06-05 23:51:16 +0000 UTCI don't think Rhaenyra was really playing with Ser Cristan. I think she was raised in a social class where discreet lovers were considered acceptable. She didn't fully realize that Cristan's views on that would be very different.
