I want to know how a common soldier can kill a member of the council and not be immeadiately executed and then be the one putting the crown on the new king. Also why wouldn't Rhaenys fry the entire crowning ceremony instead of turning around and leaving?

2025-10-21 00:47:20 +0000 UTCWhile for a lot of series I watch, I'll typically skip the intro/theme song since most of the time they're static and don't change. GOT & HOTD are different and we always watched as it changed from episode to episode. Definitely the coolest intros! Seeing all the craziness after Viserys died brings me back (or forward, as it were) to all the shenanigans that happened after Robert died in GOT and Cersei ripping up his final will, etc... I, too, like the White Worm...accent and all! If you had told me Quentin Tarantino wrote this episode, I'd believe it solely on the strength of that creepy, foot-forward exchange between Larys and the queen...with him rubbin' one out at the end of it!! Foot fetish, indeed!!! INSANE ending!! Had only seen eps 1-8, so finally get to see these last 2. This one was nuts, for sure!!

And the fact that this whole exchange took place without any prompting from Alicent suggests that it's been going on for a while now. I mention in comments a few episodes back that Lord Larys would eventually be revealed as a pervert in addition to his other less than savory traits. Also, that closeup of his cane? It was to show the firefly, the sigil Larys has chosen to represent himself instead of House Strong's traditional symbol, now that he is the last surviving member. The burning house she passed in the streets? That was the house of Mysaria aka the White Worm -- recall that Alicent had okayed Larys' removal of the head of the spy network? Mysaria is the head of that network. Did he succeed? And did you recognize her as Daemon's lover from earlier in the series? It was before the time jump, when Rhaenera was still young. Mysaria is the "whore" he announced he was going to marry when he stole the dragon's egg. 55:15 "There is a beast beneath the boards." YEAH there is.

Each council member has a unique colored stone, and placing it on the table signifies their attendance and position within the council. The act of placing the stone on the table is compared to an employee clocking in for work, indicating the start of the council meeting and their engagement in official business. The stones also act as a visual cue, showing who is present and who is absent from the meeting. (I suspected this was this case but I looked it up when I first watched the show to be sure)
