Pink Floyd- On The Turning Away

Comments

top 3 bands from my generation are in no particular order: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd #IMO

John Christopher xcronex

Roger Waters left the band in 1985 and said to David Gilmour, " This band cannot survive without me, and write songs"! David's response. The Momentary Lapse of Reason. I think On the Turning Away is the most positive and uplifting song of the band's career.

Watch the live version from their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. The solo is more extensive and matches with the back up singers. It is my favorite solo of David's, probably because of the more positive and hopeful message of this song.

I saw this tour (Momentary Lapse of Reason) live in 1988. It was the greatest show ever. I saw the Pulse tour in 1994 and they played for a little over 2 hours, but this tour was their first time touring after Roger leaving and the years in court over whether David, Nick, and Rick could use the Pink Floyd name. They played for 2 1/2 hours. We cheered and screamed for 20 minutes and they came back out and played for another 1 1/2 hours for a total of 4 hours. They played all of Dark side. They had the giant pig from the Animals album. 72,000 people singing along with them in the stadium.

Heard your pain Amber

Pink Floyd always said they hated doing music videos because they want people to see what the music says to them but to me this is a call to action. It's a reminder to help in the small ways and a reminder of the smiles small acts of kidness can bring and how they can fill in gaps in yourself you didn't even know you had. Don't turn away and say someone else will help. Be that change. Just my thoughts.

Wow. That reaction left me speechless . You're amazing. Just keep doing what you because you make me smile all the time. Except you had me tearing up a little on that one.

Amber, thank you for giving this old man who dearly loves this song the most honest and beautiful reaction to it that I've seen!

God I adore you when you Floyd out. You become one with us all. So cool to watch.

Thank you for being so emotionally open and honest with your reaction to this song. David Gilmour and the rest of Pink Floyd are masters at evoking feelings with their music and conveying powerful messages. You captured a lot of the things I think this song is trying to say

I second this!

Hi Amber. I like Pink Floyd too. This was a beautiful song. And that guitar solo is epic. I love your reactions. You get the music. A lot of people hear it, but they don't get it. When we hear great music, it connects to our soul. I love it. We have to get back to love for one another on this earth. πŸ™

Speaking of Pink Floyd you need to watch The Wall movie
