The Beatles- Hey Jude

I know Paul says this song was for Julian, and I'm not calling Paul a liar, but I have a hard time believing this song isn't at least partly meant for John. "For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool / By making his world a little colder" Paul knew John was a bad husband and father, but he was John's friend and he wanted John to be happy. If staying with Cynthia was making him miserable, I think Paul would tell him to go. "You're waiting for someone to perform with" Paul knew John had fallen in love with Yoko, and wanted to make art with Yoko, and a lot of the lyrics really seem to be saying: go be with Yoko, but don't mess it up this time. Really let her into your heart or you'll make yourself and your partner miserable again. But Paul was also friends with Cynthia and an uncle figue to Julian, so I guess it made it awkward to release a song encouraging her husband and his father to leave them. Anyway, lovely reaction to a lovely song!

2025-08-18 20:38:02 +0000 UTCA memory from 1971: senior year of high school traveling home with the 🏈football team after suffering a loss. Someone put this song on and we all broke in singing along. Took away some of the pain from losing‼️😅

2025-08-17 10:50:34 +0000 UTC“Take a sad song and make it better”. What a lovely phrase and credo to live by. John Lennon actually loved this song and considered it the best song that Paul McCartney ever wrote. The relationship between John and Julian has been dissected to death. There was a lot of guilt on John’s part, for sure. But before he was murdered, he and Julian reconnected and were starting to grow closer.

2025-08-17 05:10:33 +0000 UTCWas going to correct you on the fact that Paul, not John, wrote this about John's son,but I see others have beat me to it.

2025-08-17 01:14:40 +0000 UTCI've always wanted you to react to Koko Taylor. Specifically, her song "Mother Nature". She was the Queen of the Blues, and she passed the week after Michael Jackson. Unfortunately, her passing was overshadowed by the death of the King of Pop, and she didn't receive the recognition she was due.

2025-08-17 01:14:13 +0000 UTCThe song was actually written by Paul for Julian. Paul was like an uncle to Julian, and he knew Julian was having a hard time with his parents' divorce and John and Yoko's new relationship. So the song initially said, "Hey Jules..." but was later changed by Paul to "Hey Jude" for commercial reasons.

2025-08-17 01:10:22 +0000 UTCYou said Lennon but Paul McCartney wrote this for Julian Lennon John did NOT write this . Julian was having a hard time about his parents separating. Paul originally titled it Hey Jules. Paul was close with Julian. Lennon when he was little. Great reaction though, glad you revisited it

2025-08-17 01:07:20 +0000 UTCGreat idea to revisit The Beatles! No matter how many times we listen to them, they keep giving, and it almost becomes religious and therapeutic, especially when we listen to them with sensitive people who appreciate the greatness of the Fab Four.

2025-08-17 00:58:05 +0000 UTCI think you are ready to put the romantic comedy “Yesterday” on your queue. It’s about a struggling musician who after a worldwide event wakes up and he is the only one in the world who can remember The Beatles. Paul and Ringo were not involved with the film, but both of them, along with George and John’s widows all watched it and all said they enjoyed it very much. It’s a great film for any Beatles fan.

2025-08-17 00:48:35 +0000 UTCThese are all Beatles songs you previously reacted to on Rob Squad. Not sure why. There are so many great ones you haven’t touched yet. Back in The USSR and All You Need Is Love to name 2
