2025-08-22 20:43:11 +0000 UTCHow can one man do that with one instrument? When Jimi picks up the guitar it's no longer a separate thing. Jimi and the guitar TOGETHER are the instrument.

2025-08-22 03:26:47 +0000 UTCAmber, check out JImi’s performance closing out Woodstock. He was the final headliner that was supposed to perform Sunday evening. Due to problems, his performance didn’t take place until Monday morning, when most of the crowd had already left. The people who stayed witnessed an incredible set that concluded with the Star-Spangled Banner. Purple haze is another great one. As an aside, you would’ve fit right in since you are an honorary hippie. Just remember to put flowers in your hair‼️☮️❤️

2025-08-21 22:09:44 +0000 UTCOK, here's a Jimi song to check out: https://youtu.be/iO25KSfDlv8?si=gUe_6KcXDTHuf_3y The song is called "Peace in Mississippi". It's an instrumental, it's loud, violent and angry. When SRV was killed in the helicopter crash, I had this CD in my player and played this song CONSTANTLY for two weeks. When I finally pulled it out to put it back in the jewel, I noticed the name of the album--had forgotten it: 'CRASH LANDING'!! I got a full body shiver! It was a freaky experience and I'll never more not think of that helicopter crash after that. Two of SRV's biggest influences were Jimi...and Albert King. I heard an interview with Albert King where they were talking about Jimi. In Albert's opinion, Jimi couldn't play blues worth a lick. He said the two of them did a small show once and Albert said "...I could play all his stuff, but he couldn't play none of mine..." WOW I couldn't believe one of SRVs idols said that about the other one! Now, one of the 3 Jimi albums I have is called simply "Blues"--and I think it's great. But I've read that Albert had that reputation of not likin' too many people--except Stevie Ray. They did a session together (Albert & SRV) that there are clips of on YT...worth checking out also.

2025-08-21 20:05:42 +0000 UTCAs much as I love the studio version, there's a live version from the "Hendrix in the West" album that I always liked more.

2025-08-21 18:57:06 +0000 UTCA big part of Jimi's genius in his studio recordings is that he would hear overlaid guitar parts in his head - and he knew exactly how he wanted them to sound together. so he would record the basic track and then record each additional guitar part separately to make the final take for the album!

2025-08-21 18:07:22 +0000 UTCAmber, I am happy that you continue to explore Jimi Hendrix’s music. He was so far ahead of his time that his music is still advanced today. Another great song of his from 1970 is called “Machine Gun”. It’s a Vietnamese War song I think. He recorded it with Buddy Miles and Band Of Gypsies. There is a recording out there of this done at the Fillmore East with Miles and Billy cox that is transcendent. You’ll have to buckle up for that one. I had some friends that knew SRV when he was coming up in Austin. TX. Everybody used to tease him about being a wanna be Jimi Hendrix. We now know he went on to develop his own style and was a masterful guitar player. I just thought you would find that interesting. We should all help Amber to acquire a wider audience. I tell all my friends to check out her channel to give her wider exposure. If everyone did that it would expand the reach of her musical acumen. Personally I am amazed at how far she has come in the last few years. Gary Wheeler
