Amber's reaction to the events of this film is exactly what mine was. I'm so glad it was Krypto that kicked Lex's behind!

2025-12-04 02:22:25 +0000 UTC1st, you missed an after credit scene! I enjoyed this movie, it is hands down my favorite DC movie to date! I have never liked the character of Superman/Clark Kent, ever, but Corenswet actually made me like his character Hawkgirl and Hawkman are my 2 favorite DC characters, after Lex Luthor, of course, and Hoult did a Fantastic job, 2nd best portrayal of my beloved Lex after Rosenbaum from the tv show Smallville. However, as much as I love Lex and Hawkgirl, Mr Terrific absolutely stole the show for me, and his fight scene was the 2nd best scene after Hawkgirl straight up kills Netanyahu, I mean Ghurkos! I find it impossible to believe that people who only even known of the existence of Kryptonians for 3 years, and have never heard or seen the language before now could somehow in 24 hours be able to perfectly interpret the language, not to mention any cultural context that could affect the meaning. It is even harder to believe that in the same message his parents would say both that they sent him somewhere to do the most good as well as tell him to rule over humans with no mercy!

2025-09-01 08:14:39 +0000 UTCIt was worth the near 50 year wait to get a Superman movie that can make audiences laugh, cry, and cheer. Great film, great reaction.

2025-08-29 00:06:11 +0000 UTCI love the movie! It’s like opening a old school comic book!

2025-08-28 06:47:29 +0000 UTCI'll go against the grain here cause seems like everybody loved this movie. I thought it was good. Not great. I personally liked Man of Steel better, just too bad they messed it all up with Batman vs Superman & Justice League, both not good. Despite the way worse graphics, the original two Supermans with Chris Reeve were amazing. Kinda liked Superman III personally lol.

2025-08-27 07:55:09 +0000 UTCBack to Marvel, check out the tv show Agents of Shield (epic show!), and the spinoff Agent Carter (Captain Americas Love).

2025-08-24 01:47:58 +0000 UTCHard disagree Superman 1979 wasn't written well. It wasn't Citizen Kane, yes. But it had heart and well paced from a time when people didn't speak in MEME and didn't think that someone brooding for 75% of the movie made a good script. It was pure escapism ... why it was so loved then and is still now.

2025-08-23 01:50:52 +0000 UTCFun fact Amber, The Justice League HQ building that you said was beautiful is the Union Terminal Station in Cincinnati. It is a gorgeous building. It's actually a museum center now. Also I feel the same as you. One of my biggest triggers is also manipulative people and situations. This movie has my anxiety going a bit crazy!!

2025-08-22 18:00:34 +0000 UTCHonestly, I love Cavill but Man of Steel was a terrible Superman movie. :\

2025-08-21 23:41:48 +0000 UTCYou should also watch the TV Series "Smallville"

2025-08-21 18:20:23 +0000 UTCWatching Superman movies is best done by taking all the different versions as sort of one big anthology. The first two Christopher Reeve movies were iconic (though Two was goofy as all get-out) mainly because of Christopher's performance. Then you've got the Lois and Clark TV series (one of my personal favorites because my wife and I used to watch it together), which really did a good job of focusing on the characters over the comic book action. Smallville introduced a lot of angst and had some majorly good episodes, although it went off the rails quite a few times. Superman Returns had a lot of good points (love Brandon Routh -- massively underappreciated IMO) and was a more grounded follow on Christopher Reeve's take. Man of Steel was actually probably the most realistic take on what would really happen if Superman existed on Earth (also, personally, I give it a couple of points for being the only Superman I know of where he actually spoke with a church pastor, which I always felt would be something Clark, as a Kansas boy, would have a lot more of in his life). Justice League is best ignored, although Clark's beat down of Steppenwolf is awesome. Throw in some of the better animated Superman films, like All-Star Superman, Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, Superman vs. The Elite, and Superman Unbound. You can jump in at any point, and taken altogether, you have Superman, but I still feel like THE definitive Superman tale has not been told. Enjoyed watching this one with you.

2025-08-21 14:02:55 +0000 UTCI am sorry to hear about your pops, and I am so glad to hear that he and your mom did right by you. I have no doubt you will do the same for your kids. Now: I have seen Christpher Reeve's Superman and you know what? They weren't written that well. Christopher Reeves himself was phenomenal. The movies...not so much. This one was also flawed, but it was amazing.

2025-08-21 13:29:08 +0000 UTCI would watch the 1978 Superman movie to get a feel for how Superman was originally meant to be portrayed. The 3-hour extended TV version has extra scenes that were not shown in theaters and has all of the original sound effects and music that was shown in theaters as opposed to the theatrical version which is shown now which has been digitally remastered with different music and sound effects.

2025-08-21 08:22:11 +0000 UTCAmber - I'm convinced that this was a phenomenal reaction. That's because you are a phenomenal reactor and love the channel..........No offense, I can't watch this. Without you seeing Superman(1978) which broke records and set a trend for superhero movies, or Superman II (1980) which broke even more records and were(not even arguably) the best two Superhero movies ever created for over two decades, I can't watch this with you.

2025-08-21 08:03:46 +0000 UTCAmber, I highly recommend watching the Christopher Reeve Superman movies. Also the series Smallville.

2025-08-21 06:10:36 +0000 UTCYou need to watch Superman 1979 and Superman 2 (Donner Cut) and Batman 1989 and its sequel Batman Returns from 1992. IMO they are the best versions of those characters put on the big screen.

2025-08-21 06:05:05 +0000 UTCYep, gotta agree, kinda Gorgeous.

2025-08-21 05:11:45 +0000 UTCMan Of Steel? No The original Superman movie is the ultimate origin story. I mean you have Marlon Brando as Superman's father.

2025-08-21 04:37:38 +0000 UTCClark Kent grew up in Smallville, Kansas on the Kent family farm. There was a series called Smallville that ran for 10 years with over 200 episodes. It has Kal-el origin story as well as Lex Luther's. The Superman rabbit hole is very deep. Like many people, I am a Christopher Reeves fan. I loved the first 2 movies from the 70's. Other reincarnations, not so much. I didn't see this in the theatre, but when it started and I heard the John Williams Superman theme, it gives me hope. Superman's lair as you called it, is the Fortress of Solitude. While Smallville would be impossible to watch on the channel, (2 episodes a week would take over 4 years) It would be instructive to watch episode 1 on your own. Clark Kent was the ultimate boy scout because of the values he was taught by Johnathan and Martha Kent, not his father Jor-el.

2025-08-21 03:52:26 +0000 UTCI find it refreshing that you dove right into this as your first Superman movie. It’s a good reminder that people don’t need to do a bunch of homework to enjoy these movies 😁

2025-08-21 03:42:06 +0000 UTCThese comments are kinda rough. Amber please watch what you want. Yes it’s great to watch things in order or watch older iterations but at the end of the day most people don’t always carefully curate how and when they consume media normally. Experience these films in the way that you want. Also, this film does not really require you knowing his origin story for it to be impactful and enjoyable imo. Sure it helps but your reaction shows that it’s a very strong film all on its own. Much peace Amber

2025-08-21 03:29:27 +0000 UTCThis is supposed to be an early iteration of the justice league. I think that’s why it’s called justice gang for now. Will probably change once the starting roster is fully fleshed out

2025-08-21 03:22:13 +0000 UTCSince you asked this is a pretty great adaptation of Lex compared to the comic book Lex. He’s notoriously one of the biggest haters of his nemesis in fiction alongside characters like Reverse Flash and Black Manta (also DC villains funnily). In the comics Lex is brilliant. Like possibly the most intelligent character in DC comics apart from cosmic or near cosmic entities and Braniac. He comes from wealth and is heavily involved in politics and world affairs. And he HATES Superman. He is extremely manipulative and uses his genius to level the playing field, making him able to be Superman’s (a nearly godlike being) arch nemesis. So this adaptation is pretty spot on. My personal second favorite live action Lex Luthor right after Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum portrayal (less comic accurate portrayal but so much depth to that one).

2025-08-21 03:18:36 +0000 UTCYou should watch Smallville soon. That saId, boy did the ending with the message from his birth parents and then Kara calling him a "B' really rub me the extremely wrong way. Overall, the movie was paced wildly all over the place; very little character development. And well, was very juvenile. Gunn should have let someone else direct this.
Tim
2025-08-21 03:10:41 +0000 UTCNot unpopular to not like Synder's Luthor. It sucked. 2025 Supes version of Luthor was ok. Not Smallville Lex great, but still passable.
Tim
2025-08-21 03:10:23 +0000 UTCI loved this ngl - more than I thought I would. I had my doubts but darn it! I smiled watching it and I thought Nicolas played Lex Luthor AMAZINGLY. Unpopular opinion maybe, but I didn't like Jessie's version, that's just me tho. And I'm glad we didn't get another origin story tbh, that they covered it in the first 30 seconds lol. And yes, I WANT Krypto! Mr Terrific definitely lived up to his name ngl either. I even like ''Gary'' lol and as someone that's watched most of the past Supermans/Justice league/ Wonder woman and the original Superman's? It doesn't matter you've started here IMO. Yes, you can easily go back and watch them when you're ready so don't worry about it :) Its clear you know some of the lore anyway as well. This Superman is more like Christopher Reeves one ( The original) the music is nicely done too. In a couple of spots it gave me chills. But def don't skip the end credits they have them like Marvel do :)

2025-08-21 03:05:39 +0000 UTCSAME! I'm just saying the same I thought I'd hate it and didn't - I love Nicolas as Lex too.

2025-08-21 03:04:47 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this Superman movie too when i saw it in theaters. It was nice to watch it again and see your reaction! Like you, I'm much more of a Marvel girl, but I've fallen behind on Marvel movies. My friends dragged me to the new Fantastic Four movie last week though, and I really loved it, so I hope you get a chance to react to that soon. It's set in a sort of retro sci-fi version of the 1960s, so it's got a really cool aesthetic. And the characters are likable, and motherhood is a central plot point.

2025-08-21 03:01:15 +0000 UTCAmber you really have watched the original 1978 superman first. Not only is it iconic and I dare say the best superman ever . it would explain a lot of Superman origins. There are 4 original Superman movies feature Christopher Reeves. Really only the first 2 or maybe 3 are worth watching, hover the original Superman 1 and 2 you should watch. its kinda like watch the new Spiderman with never seeing the original, except the original Superman is so good. Too me and a lot of other people Christopher Reeves, will always be Superman.

2025-08-21 02:46:50 +0000 UTCSo, I saw this when it came out and wound up liking it more than I thought I would. I was hesitant to see it, thinking it's yet another...different...Superman movie. Pleasantly surprised. Like you, I was annoyed and confused as to how Luthor got into Superman's 'crystal palace', only to, at the end, go "ohhhhhhhh, that's how!" I don't know if you caught it at the very end, before you cut it off, but this was directed by James Gunn, who also did the 3 Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as THE Suicide Squad. I can't remember if it was Lois with the coffee with a metric ton of sugar--think it was--but it reminded me of one of many favorite Beastie Boys line: "...I like my sugar with coffee and cream..." I think Mr. Terrific was my favorite of the Justice Gang. Green Lantern looked like he gave himself a bowl cut! The "element guy" is Metamorpho This Lois gave me Margot Kidder vibes, who played Lois in the Christopher Reeves Superman movies of the late 70s-80s. My personal favorite Lois is Amy Adams, though--from Man of Steel. Krypto, of course, was hysterical, and don't/haven't we all known or had dogs just like that?? The selfie girl--forget her name, apart from 'Mutant Toes' is one of those incredibly annoying yet hysterical characters...can't stand them, but they make you laugh.

2025-08-21 02:43:39 +0000 UTCI think there was enough in this to piece together the broad strokes of his origin story. Seems like she picked it up ok. Besides, you’ve got to feed the algorithm with the latest thing ;)

2025-08-21 02:16:30 +0000 UTCKrypto is a super Good Boy. Also a pain in the butt. But mostly a super Good Boy. Lois was 100% right with her interview questions. Actions have consequences, even with the best of intentions, and superheroes/metahumans need to keep that in mind -- Superman most of all, as the most powerful of them. She didn't ask him anything any serious journalist wouldn't have, and Clark needs to be prepared for that kind of thing. Right now, he does NOT interview well. On the Justice Gang: No idea why they changed the name of the Justice League. There are many Green Lanterns in DC comics. Guy Gardner is a dick, and not a good representative of Green Lantern Corps values. Hawkgirl is complicated - her origin has been retconned and modified so many times it's ridiculous. She's best understood as an alien cop from the planet Thanagar, who has been reincarnated many times, including a life in Ancient Egypt. Mr. Terrific has no superpowers but he's an Olympic level athlete and one of the smartest men on the planet. His "T-spheres" have a wide variety of functions. Yep, DC has a multiverse. And they had one decades ahead of Marvel, starting back in the 60's. Metamorpho, the Element Man, has kind of a tragic origin story. He was a normal human who got exposed to unknown radiation from a meteorite and transformed into what you see. (In some versions of the story, he was intentionally exposed to the radiation by his employer, Simon Stagg of Stagg Industries, who sent him to recover an artifact from the cave where the meteorite was.) His long-time love interest is Stagg's daughter, Sapphire. The eventually married and had Jory. Joey can't transform himself into elements like his dad, but he can transform other objects. The comics stories lack the cinematic awesomeness of a movie, but yes, Lex is that big of a jackwagon in the comics. Supergirl's movie will be out next year. Did you recognize her as the young Rhaenerys from House of the Dragon S1? NOOOOO! You missed the post-credits scene with Superman and Mr. Terrific!

2025-08-21 01:44:02 +0000 UTCChristopher Reeve was the best. Was hoping for Superman 1 & 2! Also wouldn't mind if she went straight to Man of Steel. People like what they like & I can respect that but not a fan of James Gunn's Superman.

2025-08-21 01:24:01 +0000 UTCThis is the fourth time the superman character has been adapted to and nothing really stuck since the first two movies back in the late 70s and early 80s The 2006 movie had potential but it didn't get a sequel because of less than expected audience reactions and I hoped it would because I loved it I saw this in the theater and I really enjoyed it Made me remember how it feels to see superman as a comic character The superman from last decade was too serious and dark A good start to the brand new DCU

2025-08-21 01:10:38 +0000 UTCHmm…interesting choice to start with this newest Superman movie since it doesn’t cover his origin story at all. But whatever 😁 🤷🏻♂️ Christopher Reeve(RIP) will always be my Superman

2025-08-21 00:18:32 +0000 UTCThis was nowhere near as good as Christopher Reeve's Superman 1&2 and Henry Cavil's Man of Steel. I'm kind of shocked you skipped over the last universe and the original Superhero movie, Superman '78. You'd have loved Wonder Woman too.

2025-08-21 00:12:43 +0000 UTCWhen you get the chance, Amber, the only two DC movies you should check out for context of James Gunn’s new DC Universe are his take on Suicide Squad and Blue Beetle 2023. Edi Gathegi expressed in an interview that his favorite thing about his character Mister Terrific is his intellect which is also something to be celebrated. He also said that one can make a difference with their intelligence and his role may potentially inspire more kids to engage in the STEM field. Edi confirmed that he signed for a multi-picture deal with DC Studios. This means we can expect more of Mister Terrific in the future. By the way, we also got a cameo from James Gunn's brother Sean. He was Yondu's right hand man Kraglin in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Now he portrays Maxwell Lord, the head of LordTech and the financial founder of the Justice Gang.
