While I did like Henry Cavill as Superman, the way they messed with the original story bothered me to no end. General Zod did lead a civil war on Krypton, but was captured and tried by Jor-el and sentenced to banishment in the Phantom Zone. The whole genesis chamber and Kal-el being first natural birth is new, In the Christopher Reeves second movie, you also see General Zod, but following the original history. Jor-el knew of Krypton's fate and planned for it by sending Kal-el to Earth. In Kal-el's capsule was a crystal memory device that contained all the knowledge of Krypton that he used to create the Fortress of Solitude. The "S" on Kal-el costume is actually the El family sigil. Jor-el had it on his clothes. The people of Krypton did not have superpowers, just technology. Kal-el has superpowers on Earth due to the yellow sun. Krypton had a red sun called Rao. At the end on the Superman 2025 movie when Kara Zor-el (Supergirl) his cousin showed up, he mentioned she was on a planet with a red sun which allowed her to get drunk. The real Clark Kent would never have let Johnathan Kent die. He would saved him just like the men on the oil-rig. If you want to see more of Henry Cavill, watch the Netflix series, The Witcher.
