Superman II (1982) Full Length

Comments

Superman II actually came out in 1981.

Anthony Goodwin

I do like in the newer versions of Superman, especially the TV ones since the 90s, at first, Lois is smitten with Superman, but then falls in love with Clark before she knows the truth.

Joey Tovar

When you asked "What if he wasn't Superman?" that question gets answered in the Richard Donner cut of Superman II.

Joey Tovar

There was an essay floating around the early internet called, "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex" that detailed all the ways that Lois would not survive if she attempted to actually sleep with Superman

Mark Adolph

I didn't hate S3. Its another Superman story with some of my favorite actors.

Brad Howard

Great getting to revisit these classics with you!!! Thanks! If you love Christopher Reeves, one of my very favorite romantic movies with Jane Seymour is "Somewhere In Time"!!!! This is a fantasy kind of time "travel" movie! I love it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Debi Bailey

Superman left the fight in the city so he could lure them away from the population

Craig G

Superman III ain't that bad Amber, it just had a lot to live up to. It's definitely IMO worth a watch. At the very least it is entertaining. And it has Richard Pryor in it :)

Gary

Pretty sure Lois would have preferred to be bedded by Superman (with all his 'powers' intact) at least once...

Gary

Amber, if you ever get a chance, I highly recommend watching the Richard Donner Cut of this movie. It is even better and we get Marlon Brando’s return. One of my favorite scenes from the film is when he sees Superman/Kal-el at the Fortress of Solitude.

Sweetish_Jeff_25

Lex Luthor: Superman, thank god. I've always liked that part lol

Matthew Stewart

Superman chose embarrassment over violence the 2nd time around in that diner by simply sittin dude's booty in a plate and sliding him across the counter.

sb

Somewhere In Time. Somewhere In Time. Somewhere In Time.

BurleyLeaf

He needed to change were they were fighting. If he would have stayed a whole lot of people would die.

Theo Harris

I agree

Stephen Ulmer

You can really tell this one wasn’t done by John Williams because you don’t get that powerful and monumental sweeping sound. The London Symphony Orchestra was used on Superman but for the most part this was a smaller studio session orchestra. If you were to go back and listen specifically at the score it’s reworked Williams material for the most part that sounds smaller and more functional to the scene.

Ryan Garcia

No spoilers, but Amber, if you do decide to watch Superman 3 and 4 be aware the quality of #3 steeply declines from the first two in this series and #4 is even worse… to the point you might be put off getting to the much better film Superman Returns that has already been mentioned. I hope you stick with this Superman until you have seen that film.

The 70's & 80's wasn't the Stone Age, Babygirl....lol. Technology just advanced. The 40's-early 60's were mostly black & white movies. A Hard Days Night ('64) was black and white, but Help! ('65) was color.

Amber, if you want to see how Superman regained his powers. On YouTube watch Superman 2 Capable Return. It's a couple minute video. I am sure you will like it. Loved the Reaction!

Matthew Killion

if Amber watches 3 and 4, she will at least understand why 1 and 2 are favored. 3 isn't bad, but there is a clear decline in all around quality and my favorite comedian, Richard Pryor helped, but he seemed out of place to me. Part 4 has no redeeming qualities. (to me.

Another great one. It's amazing how these 2 movies--for 2hr movies--flew by (pardon the pun.) The beginning of this one is like the Superman version of "Previously, on..." Even better if it had been a while since seeing the first one. Now, I'm confused: the guy can spin around Earth fast enough to make the entire planet stop and start spinning backwards, yet...US to France takes...a while. US to North Pole takes...a while. A bit confusing, but I didn't let it ruin the story, just an "OK, that's weird..." I loved Lois' health kick with the fresh orange juice alongside her ashtray full of cigarette butts! I like all three Lois' we've seen so far: Margot Kidder, Amy Adams and the new one--who reminds me of Margot Kidder. Having now seen this and Man of Steel so close together, I can see elements of THIS story in Man of Steel. I'm sure I've seen the others--leading up to Man of Steel--but I don't really remember them. And the score in this movie was as epic as the last--or any other John Williams or John Williams inspired movie score. Don't think you'd even call it a soundtrack, cause I don't believe there were any actual songs, apart from the random song playing on a radio here and there, but it could just be me.

Marc Lamoureux

first off, you should watch 3 and 4. although they aren't as good as 1 and 2, I always liked 3. I mean it has Richard Pryor in it. 2nd Gene Hackman will always be my favorite Luthor .

Karl Kraus

Hate to say it amber but christopher reeve alone doesn't carry the movie he has to have top notch material that revolves around him and the 3rd and 4th movies don't have it I'm sorry; if you watch them, go ahead and enjoy them but i won't partake i'll see you for superman returns

Karl Kraus

Good eye catching the way Lex climbed the ladder. its actually the best way to climb a rope ladder that's not secure from the bottom. if you tried to climb the conventional way, your feet would push out and it would be super difficult to climb.

Samuel Jenks

And the great Ned Beatty

Catchermag

Everyones knocking Superman 3 and 4 but I've always enjoyed them. They're right though not as good as the first 2

Matthew Stewart

Yeah his smile is perfect!

Elizabeth Franco

5:00 "...another version of this from 2006..." Yes, the "Donner cut." The history behind that is a mess, but has some interesting moments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_II%3A_The_Richard_Donner_Cut 37:10 Vibrating meds were absolutely a thing in the 60's and 70's. By the late '70s there were over a million "Magic Fingers" massaging beds" installed in hotels and motels in the US and Europe. They were coin operated: 25 cents for 15 minutes of vibrating. 1:24:50 Yeah, it seems a little petty to have the Fortress taken completely offline, but it was built for Kal-El from Krypton. Once he made the decision to live permanently as Clark Kent, an Earth-normal human, I guess his parents figured he no longer had any use for it. No point in leaving it lying around for someone else to find.

Michael Griffin

You can TOTALLY stop after Superman 2. Trust me lol

David Callahan

my god i never realized this before but i think one of the terrorists is uncle vernon from harry potter, the husky guy

Karl Kraus

Not enough can be said of John Williams. He has literally written iconic music for the cinematic landscape for just over the last 50 years starting with Jaws.🏆🥰

K Dub

Rest in peace Christopher Reeve,Marlon Brando,,Gene Hackman,Margot Kidder,Glen Ford, and Terrence Stamp

Elizabeth Franco

Good timing on this as Terence Stamp, who played Zod, just passed away a week and a half ago. He was fantastic in this (and many other things!)

Ben Martin

Superman Returns continues this story with decent execution kevin spacey is lex luthor and he did a fabulous job the tone is sort of halfway between those of the original movies and man of steel, with some dark beats you can complete your superman journey with it because the rest of the movies are not good at all or a waste of time

Karl Kraus

Music is by John Williams

Elizabeth Franco

There is a Superman Returns with Brandon Roth in 2006

Elizabeth Franco

Amber, I love that you referred him as “Our Superman”

David Palmer

I’ve thought about that. I’m sure it wouldn’t be an issue. I’ll talk to my editor

Amber Walker

Am I the only one who wishes the introduction she does on YouTube was also on this?

Catchermag

So glad you didn’t waist time getting to this. You don’t have to bother with 3 and 4 even Christopher Reeve didn’t like them. But I will ask you again to please please watch the documentary,Superman: The Christopher Reeve Story. It will be one of the best things you ever watch.

Elizabeth Franco

I always loved the second Superman just as much or even more than the first one. Having to deal with three villains, not only losing his powers for a time. It was heartbreaking to see Superman struggle with such hardship.
