Aquaman (2018) Full Length

Comments

I was out of commission for a few weeks back when you posted this and I finally got around to watching it. While I had seen it before, it had apparently been long enough that some parts I didn't remember at all, thought I did enjoy it. I agree with your comment about the moms, seeing Arthur's mom reminded me of Ant Man's mom, too--and not just because they're two beautiful blondes that aged like fine wine. The whole Trench scene gave me Mines of Moria vibes...just as insane! Another classic Willem Dafoe role was 'Booondock Saints' (1999), where he played an over-the-top--and hysterical (though not on purpose) FBI agent. He was great in the Spider Man movies, too...and pretty much most of the stuff I've seen him in.

If you want another Willem Defoe movie, check out The Last Temptation of Christ. A great movie

Craig G

I really think you'd enjoy "Firefly" for the love story, the sci fi, and the humor. Just be careful on the watch order.

Jayme LaFontaine

Fun fact if anyone didn’t mention it. Aquaman’s dad is Boba Fett from Empire Strikes Back

Shadoe

must watch Guardians of theGalaxy Holiday special then Guardians 3.

Drew Bolyard

Also, the Fantastic Beasts movies. It’s prequels to Harry Potter.

Just Dave

You like Sci-Fi and Star Wars. You should check out the Star Trek movies. They are all good.

Just Dave

This first Aquaman was really good. I didn’t really care for the second one, but I guess it was entertaining enough. But it wasn’t that good.

Just Dave

I'd love to see you react to Dune Parts 1 & 2. With how much you've enjoyed Star Wars, the MCU and DCEU, and just sci-fi/fantasy in general, I think you'd really be into them.

She has Platoon (1986) here on the channel already as well, but I watched Poor Things (2023) when it came out and LOVED IT 💕 💕 . Emma Stone plays the Anti-Damsel, and kills it with the Deadpan acting. Defoe plays a Father-Stein figure, and I kinda love him in this role; What a journey! Finally, the other that I love him in is American Psycho (2000) as Detective Kimball.

A movie in the DC Universe that you will really enjoy is Matt Reeves 2022 movie The Batman. In this film Robert Pattinson is Bruce Wayne/The Batman. Zoe Kravitz plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

We all know why this movie was so huge. Momoa. He's beautiful to watch - period. For my gays and girls. I'll watch anything with him in it, at least once. I personally would like to ask that you look at which orders both universes have, I would do release order as they made them that way for a reason, and pick what you want to watch here. We can give our suggestions, we can't tell you what you'll like or not like. Jmho.

Rowan Figueroa

You can see a young Willem DaFoe in a movie called Mississippi Burning. It takes place during the Civil Rights Era.

I’m from way back before the creation of CGI, so I’m easily impressed. I grew up reading these heroes on the comic book pages and watching Saturday morning cartoons, so seeing these characters being brought to life on the grand scale that they are, I don’t see any of them being bad movies per se. I am just loving that someone loved these heroes enough to make them jump off the page onto fifty foot screens. Some folks have grown up in the modern age and aren’t as romantic about this mythology. My voice feels small in here, but I’m recommending you watch all of the Snyderverse films if you can. Some of the DC films are better than others in regards to storytelling, but they all have heart and are roller coaster rides compared to the Adam West Batman and George Reeves Superman I grew up adoring. WW 1984 and the second Aquaman aren’t as epic as the first ones, but they’re still amazing. The Flash is one of my faves! I’m patiently waiting for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. I am a die hard Marvel fanboy. Also, have you seen either of the Ron Pearlman “Hellboy” movies? Thanks Amber! I love these reactions no matter what films you choose.

Jewel

I enjoyed your reaction. You're right about there being some Avatar vibes with this movie. I have seen WW1984 and didn't like it. Maybe you will though, that's the great thing, we can have different likes when it comes to these films. Different things resonate with us. Haven't seen Aquaman 2 or Blue Beetle. My recommendation is definitely Superman Returns. I'm positive you'll like the story and that will round out your movie versions of Superman. If you want a couple of really great DC shows there's Superman and Lois and Penguin (which is TOP tier) if you do that definitely watch The Batman first though (Robert Pattinson). Look forward to seeing what you pick!

22:00 "And...vendetta created." LOL 38:30 In the 60's comics, Vulko was the royal advisor in Atlantis and a supporter of Aquaman. 1:15:10 That helmet is a BIG part of the classic look for Black Manta, one of Aquaman's recurring villains. 1:42:15 Yes, magnesium flares do burn underwater. 1:57:20 In the comics, Ocean Master isn't a title. It's the supervillain name for another of Aquaman's recurring villains. The character has been subjected to numerous revisions over the years; the original version of the character was Orm Curry Marius, Aquaman's wayward, human half-brother envious of his sibling's superhuman powers and status as a hero.

Michael Griffin

This is the only DC movie that made over $1B.

Dale Sands

God, this movie is so awful. Jason Momoa is hot as Hades, but this movie is a bigger pile than the one Amber left on Johnny Depp's bed. Bad writing, dialogue, acting, and action. Rolled my eyes so much I had to stop before I fell over. But hey, the CGI is...ok.

Aquaman's dad is played by Temuera Morrison, who was Jango Fett (boba fett's father) in Star Wars His New Zealand accent changed to a New England accent was cool to hear He did a nice job playing an American from that region

Karl Kraus

Definitely worth watching

Debbie Green

Been watching for this! Just subscribed and watched Wonder Woman & Justice League yesterday! Great choice! Thanks!

Debbie Green

Was hoping for this. Still holding onto hope for a reaction to Wonder Woman 1984. Not as good as the first one, but I know you would love it. There is a love story 😉 And the villain is Pedro Pascal

Richard C

Birds of Prey and Shazam are also fun, but they’re not 100% necessary. Other than that, one book closes and another one opens. When you get to James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, welcome to the DCU. That’s followed by Peacemaker season 1, Blue Beetle, Creature Commandos, and Peacemaker season 2. And more importantly, when are you gonna watch the Guardians Holiday Special and Volume 3? Also, with Halloween coming up you should also check out the Marvel special called Werewolf By Night.

Aldo Gonzales

Amber, I’m going to suggest ‘Pans Labyrinth” again. It’s a spanish dark fantasy directed by Guillermo Del Toro, a great Mexican filmmaker, who is known for his fairytales that often blend gothicism and horror. Be a great movie to watch during Hispanic heritage month!

Patty Estrada

Toddler Arthur with that wild hair is an absolute cutie butt!!! 🥰

Ryan Garcia

All right This is where you end your 2010s-20s DC dive Everything else is irrelevant now that the studio rebooted yet again End things with DC for good by watching Superman Returns (2006) Full circle
