Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers (Full Length)

Comments

Gollum is played By Andy Serkis. He was Ulysses Klaw in Black Panther the guy T Challa tries to capture

Just in case no one shared this for you already Amber: https://boilemmashmem.ytmnd.com/

I will never forgive Peter Jackson for doing Faramir so dirty. Faramir let them go the same night he met them. He was tempted for like 5 minutes, and then let them go. He has a strong heart that never wavered more than a hair. That line about, "showing his quality," was in reference to him *denying* the ring's influence. It was him proving that he is quality, indeed.

Someday I need to read these books. I have often said for years the book is always better than the movie. Then I read “The Godfather” a few years ago. Myth busted. Book is really good, but movie is better.

Boromir's father is a main character in another series you will love, one of the best I have ever watched, "Fringe"! Has to be on your list.

For the house of Rohan atop the mountain, they received special permission to film there when the promised the government of New Zealand to restore it after filming. The built a series of greenhouses nearby and carefully tagged and removed all the plant life and stored it for 18 months. Built the set, filmed for 6 months, then removed all the sets and restored the mountain top to like it was before as if they were never there. One of the many behind the scenes making of extras on the extended edition DVD sets.

Steven Costa

Gollum/Smeagol always refers to himself in the plural. "The rope burns us", "We serve the master". Andy Serkis is the master of motion capture and his ability to switch between the different voices to separate the 2 characters Andy Serkis did not win an Oscar for his portrayal of Gollum; the Academy did not nominate him for the role because they did not consider motion-capture performances eligible for acting awards at the time. Serkis's performance was pioneering in the use of performance capture technology, which was still a novel concept for the Oscars, and many felt he deserved recognition for his groundbreaking work. He also did motion capture in the Planet of the Ape movie remakes.

Steven Costa

Ok so I thought they looked different. But the only wyverins I’ve heard of were in a book series I read (Fourth Wing). So I have never seen them visually just the description in that franchise

Amber Walker

The creepy guy (Brad Dourif) is also the voice of "Chucky" the doll in the Child's Play movies. Andy Serkis plays Smeagol & also Caeser in The Planet of the Apes movies you watched.

What is it with you and Star Wars? I mean, I love both franchises…but why does LOTR make you bring it up? Why not Marvel or Star Trek or Harry Potter or anything else? Maybe she only has t-shirts that fans send her. Maybe she doesn’t want any Star Wars shirts. Who cares?

Yes the Uruk Hai are orcs but they are the elite so your Basic orc would be a insult to them to be called. It's just status

57:30 Legolas called Shadowfax one of the Mearas. They are a race of long-lived horses. Shadowfax was a "chieftain" of the Mearas, which I assume means the stallion in charge of a large herd. He extremely fast and was said to be capable of understanding human speech. 1:08:35 While Merry and Pippin were with Treebeard, they were given a drink called Ent-draught (Ent-draft), made with water from the Entwash River but with woody and earthy flavors. Like lembas bread, it was very sustaining. It also has unusual effects when consumed by non-Ents: it added three inches or more to Merry and Pippin's height, making them the tallest hobbits in the history of the Shire. 1:35:30 "...Aragorn's to die for." And yet you forgot about him completely after watching the theatrical versions. LOL 1:30:30 "Same sees Gollum. Frodo sees Sméagol." Spot on, great observation. 1:44:13 Oliphaunts are elephant-like animals in Middle-Earth. They're only encountered as war elephants in the story. Peter Jackson modified them somewhat for the movie, making them more live one of the long-extinct genus of Proboscidea with four tusks instead of the usual two. 1:55:45 Those are wargs, a particularly large and evil kind of wolf that could be ridden by orcs. They are intelligent and can speak, and cooperate with orcs on raids, sharing the spoils. 2:05:10 That massive army is uruk-hai, orcs, goblins and Dundelings. 2:11:50 "She's going." Hold that thought. 2:20:40 Yeah, Denethor is kind of a dick even before he goes crazy. And he doesn't have Sauron, Saruman or a nearby ring as an excuse. But don't worry about Faramir. He'll be fine. 2:36:30 "The Ents and Merry and Pippin just went on a very leisurely stroll." Ents only have one speed: leisurely. 3:11:05 This is the city of Osgiliad. Part of the kingdom of Gondor, but the capital is at Minas Tirith. We'll see it in the third movie. Faramir's not dumb, he just working without necessary information. Frodo and Sam are strangers to him. But he's getting there. 3:17:55 The ones attacking Isengard are a combination of Ents and Huorns. Huorns are faceless, half-awakened trees, called to war by Treebeard.

Michael Griffin

12:45 "How old is Gollum?" He was 589 years old at the time he fell into Mount Doom and died. He was 33 years old when his brother Deagol found the Ring. 15:50 The hybrid orcs are uruk-hai, larger and stronger than regular orcs, and lacking some of their weaknesses. 21:30 These men are the Dundelings, a race of men livign in Dunland. Dunland was considered part of Gondor for 800 years, but when the Rohirrim arrvived in the area, Gondor granted them a large part of Dunland which became Rohan. The Rohirrim drove the Dendelings out of land they considered theirs by virtue of centuries of occupation. The Dundelings raided and harassed Rohan for the next 500 years, and were natural recruits for Saruman, who wanted to keep the Rohirrim at least occupied and distracted for now, or preferably wiped out. 25:10 "You just look evil." Brad Dourif gets a lot of roles playing things like a serial killer, and insane person, etc. 27:30 The king is neither sick nor (normally) frail. Wormtongue has been poisoning his mind and very likely his food and drink. He's made himself the king's only source of information and Theoden is in a total fog. 35:50 "I forgot about him and he's important." Well...yeah. The whole third book/movie is named for him. 39:00 Fangorn Forest is regarded as a spooky place, only partly because the Ents live there. The forest is very old and very thick -- not a lot of sunlight penetrates. John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) provided the voice of Treebeard. And no, Treebeard doesn't trust Saruman. There's a new White Wizard in town. :) 42:35 The Dead Marshes, an endless stinking swamp. A huge and ancient battle took place here and thousands of dead were buried. Later water flooded the area and the bodies were exposed; unsure why they are so well preserved but the water may have an extremely low oxygen content. 53:30 The change from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White wasn't just a new set of clothes or a promotion. He was given greater power and wisdom. He retained his memories and most of his personality, but the "upgraded" knowledge made him less open and more cautious. He wasn't as funny and didn't have time for things like smoking with Bilbo or entertaining hobbits with fireworks. Gandalf the Grey was one of five Istari (along with Sauron, Radagast and two others Tolkien never named) sent to carry out the will of Eru Ilúvatar and the Valar; Gandalf the White was singular physical embodiment of Eru Ilúvatar's will and a direct divine intervention from Eru Ilúvatar.

Michael Griffin

I'm going to nerd out here. I've watched a lot of reactions for The Two Towers, and no one seems to know that the Ring Wraiths are riding wyverns, not dragons. Similar, but not the same. They are much smaller than a dragon and have only 2 legs and 2 wings, while a dragon has 4 legs and the wings (though this doesn't seem to pertain to some designs of Smaug from The Hobbit). They're not as powerful as a dragon and cannot breathe fire. It's kind of like calling a donkey a horse, I guess, if a horse could breathe fire. D&D nerd rant over.

Jon

Great to see your love for these movies hasn't diminished-I loved your first reaction and I am loving your commentary now that you are revisiting them a second time.

IsThatMyVoice

Gandalf was originally a Maiar spirit named Olórin from Valinor, he was sent to Middle-earth as one of the Istari (Wizards) to aid the free peoples against the dark lord Sauron

Travis Forbes

Treebeard is voiced by the same actor playing Gimli (John Rhys-Davies)

Travis Forbes

Gollum was approximately 589 years old when he died.

Travis Forbes

Gollum is played by Andy Serkis. He is an absolute legend. He was supposed to only do the voice of Gollum, but when they saw how good he was it transitioned into him doing full motion capture for the character. Also, thank you for doing the extended editions. They truly are the only valid choice for LOTR. 😄

Joshua Koehn

In the books, Merry and Pippin both drank enough Entdraught that they grew taller than the tallest Hobbit in Shire history: The Old Bullroarer Took, who was just tall enough to ride a horse.

Sem Vikingr

She's seen them already What she should've done was backtrack to the theatrical editions

Karl Kraus

Now that peter jackson is on your mind, can you please react to king kong (2005)?

Karl Kraus

BRAVO. I am proud of you for going through extended additions. So much more rich story involved this way.

Matt Thomas

I hope you have as many star wars shirts as you do middle earth
