This was recorded during the “Revolver” sessions. The evolution really started in late 1965 with “Rubber Soul”.

2025-10-18 09:23:33 +0000 UTCPaul switched from his Hofner bass (the one that looked like a violin) to a Rickenbacker in 1965. Inspired by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Paul’s basslines started to become more melodic. We definitely can hear it on this song and its flip side, “Rain”. Reportedly, Boyce and Hart were listening to the end of this song in the car in 1966 and thought they heard The Beatles singing “last train to” somewhere. It inspired them to write “Last Train To Clarksville” for The Monkees. If you really want to listen to the best mix of this song, go check out the mono mix.

2025-10-17 02:23:39 +0000 UTCIt's so fun grooving to this song along with you! You should check out nearby venues to see if any Beatles tribute bands are performing. I've been to several Beatles tribute shows, and it's always a really nice feeling to dance with a group of fans! That said, the audiences tend to skew a bit older than you! I've recommended it before, but one of my favorite Beatles-themed films is Two of Us (2000) which depicts a day in the life of John and Paul in the 70s after the band has broken up. It's funny, lighthearted, bittersweet, and a great depiction of the way friendships change over time.
