I have to say, before watching the 1st one with you, I hadn't seen either, wasn't really interested in seeing either. Going into it, I wasn't sure where it was gonna go, if I'd tap out...but I didn't, and having watched the first one, I thought it was such a great movie, just the whole concept of...not necessarily the murderous psychopath, but the whole phone calls from the dead victims trying the help Finn kill that same murderous psychopath. That all being said, I thought Black Phone 2 was even better! It was a great reveal when we get both sides of that first phone call, and find out that Hope was--at the beginning of the movie--calling her own daughter 30+ yrs down the line!! And when the phone rang at the very end, I knew it was her mom. Woulda sucked if it was HIM!!!! IS there a Black Phone 3??? I don't even know. I'd say how many times can you bring a guy back from the dead, but they got about a dozen movies out of Freddy and Jason, so... Gwen was awesome in this one--epic insults, I loved them!--and I'm with you, I think Mondo and Mustang were a great, too. It was also great how we got the backstory on their mom, which lead us to understand--at least me...don't wanna speak for everyone--why their dad dove into the bottom of a bottle. And telling him what he said when he found their mom's body was the kicker, for sure. Here's what I wanna know, though: with that "christian" married couple there...they feel it was NOT OK for the only young girl to sleep in a cabin with the 2 only other kids at the camp??? So...it was better...somehow...for her to sleep BY HERSELF in an empty cabin in the middle of a winter storm???? FRIKKIN BARB! Pfffft! πI loved how Gwen kept throwing shit in her face--figuratively speaking, that is. Frikkin Barb!
