Dear Mortius, bless your heart. Thinking you could predict this madness that is VoicePlay, not to mention their patented brand of dumb.😂😂😂 This was a particular joy to watch. I love how they do heartbreaking serious one song, then can make you giggle uncontrollably the next. And, by the way, your response really made my 65th birthday this much better. Stay cool, hopefully this crushing heat wave will dissipate soon! ❤

I listened to other more sedate versions, and yes, it’s done as a hornpipe. Here, count it as a fast 8. https://youtu.be/nMOyOlmBYCU Your 8th measure hits with “in the morning” and that’s the measure you count in five. And every 8th measure for the rest of the song. So no, you can’t blame that one on Geoff. That’s a hornpipe being a hornpipe. (Layne however….now that I realize there’s a hornpipe underneath his beat…good God, that’s twisted!🤣) Sailor’s Hornpipe is another you can look up to listen to. I promise you know it. It’s in cartoons whenever they show a ship.

Also: it’s a hard C, it sounds like a k in “celtic”. Only the ball team pronounces it sell-tic and they are wrong 😏 “What on earth is they doing?!”. That needs to be a t-shirt. 🤣 Re: what you expected them to do. Well, there was your first mistake. You thought you could call what they were gonna do. Silly Mortius! The drunken fellow is Bucky. I forget his full name. He was a member of the group before it became VoicePlay, so he has a long history with them. He was also in their short fur 500 miles, and in the background fur the Candy Crush song. I wonder if Geoff pulled that count quirk from hornpipes. They count in 8, except for the last measure of each part, which is a five. Here..listen and count to see what I mean. Yes…that IS a flying fast 8, lol. I would count Drunken Sailor in 8 too, just because Irish trad doesn’t have anything in four. (the fade out here is a straight 8) I’ll have to listen to DS uninterrupted and see if he has slapped a hornpipe count on it. Heck, that may be original to it. Never paid it much attention.
