Can't wait for the next saga. I'm certain you're going to love "Wouldn't you like"

Yeah I found it strange the first time I listened that Polites died so early. Like one of the only mentions of him in the Odyssey is leading the team of men when they got to Circe's island and he didn't even make it there 😞😞

To answer your question about Odysseus’s surviving men: Poseidon wanted to punish Odysseus by killing everyone except Odysseus’s own crew (because there were many more ships in the fleet). So Odysseus lost 15 men in the to Polyphemus (I counted). And 542 to Poseidon. His plan was to make Odysseus watch his fleet drown, then kill him, then let the 43 survivors return to Ithaca but since Odysseus threw Poseidon’s mercy in his face via the wind bag, he’s going to make it so *only* Odysseus gets back to Ithaca.

I just saw a new animatic for Puppeteer from gigi that is my favorite for that song so far, but Ximena Natzel is a close second and I would totally recommend their video for Wouldn't You Like!

I just realized that there is piano at both the beginning of Ruthlessness and the second verse that starts at, "A Greek who reeks..." and ends at "but no." If piano if Athena's instrument, it being at the beginning of the song means she's watching everything that happens (and does nothing to help). And it playing when Poseidon pretty much echos what she said during "Remember Me" is her saying "I told you so." Which is deliciously petty.

Hey Motius! Another great video! I always look forward to seeing something new from you! I just LOVE your comments and reactions because they so often match my own! xD I don’t know if you had already read it in the comments of Gigi’s “Keep your Friends close” video, but I noticed that you were surprised that the face of the boy in Odysseus’ “dream” was unrecognizable - that’s because Odysseus last saw his son as a baby and simply doesn’t KNOW what he looks like today. I think that’s a very interesting and thoughtful detail. Best regards!

When you react to the next song I suggest gigi version of the animatic it is sooo good

Unlucky

Gonna go ahead and echo Kayleigh and also recommend Ximena Natzel's animatics for Puppeteer and Wouldnt You Like

Joe Giordano

That's just Greek mythology in a nutshell lol

Lukas The Spider Fanatic

I'll just leave it here, Odysseus never apologised to Poseidon. Pleaded, tried to justify harming his son... He never apologised, begged for forgiveness or any semblance of "sorry" in his, as you said, genuine speech, only "hey poseidon, we blinded your son, but we had good reasons". So yeah... God, i love how Odysseus isnt perfect, yet we still follow his journey and how great of a character he is. Well, cant be without flaws, after all, "just a man"

Danylo Nazarov

So during the Circe saga I do recommend an animatic that was just dropped for Puppeteer. The animator is called Ximena Natzel for extended animatics or even as the main one your choice. They also did one for Wouldn't You Like. :3

Kayleigh McRae

In actual greek mythology “the infant” (whos name his Astyanax) was trowed off the walls by the Odysseus or Neoptolemus the son of Achilles (depending on the version) and they weren’t compelled by the gods or anything they just did it cause he was son of Hector who was the son of Priam (the king of troy) theres also a version where Neoptolemus clubs Priam to death with Astyanaxs body (does greeks were brutal man!)

Leonidas

Polyphemus encounter his pretty much the same but with a few differences, Odysseus and his men didn’t kill his sheep he just found them taking his provisions, contrary to here Polites doesn’t die here in the Odyssey but actually makes it way further in journey, Odysseus didn’t put Lotus in Polyphemus wine he just fell asleep cause he was drunk, they dont blind him with his own club but just a random stick they find, the other Cyclops don’t tell Polyphemus to stay silent but when he says that “Nobody” has hurt him they think hes hurt by divine power and say he should pray to the gods for help, Odysseus has no falling out with Athena.

Leonidas

Also in actual greek mithology the lotus eaters aren’t little creatures but normal humans who basically have an addiction to eating Lotus and they don’t live on a random island but on the coast of Lybia

Leonidas

Now while Keep your friends close his pretty close to the Odyssey Ruthless his actually completely not Poseidon had nothing to do whit Odysseus losing most of his men, what actually happened his that after leaving Aelous island for the second time Odysseus while trying go get back to Ithaca landed in land of the Laestrygonians who were man eating gians who started trowing boulders at his ships of his twelve ships only his managed to escape

Leonidas

So in real greek mithology Aeolus isn’t a god at all hes just the a king of a “floating island” (wich means that the island isn’t attached to the bottom of the sea not that it’s flying like it is in EPIC) and he has power over the winds cause Zeus gave it to him, Odysseus contrary to EPIC actually spent a month at his court before departing and Aelous gifted him the bag of winds that contained all the winds that would not favour his journey home and all he had to do was not open the bag to keep them inside, Odysseus men actually made up themselves the belief that there was treasure in the bag and decided to open it when they came in sight of Ithaca, the winds in the bag released went against them and brought them back to Aelous island were Odysseus asked him to help them again but Aelous after he heard of what happened decide that Odysseus must be hated by the gods and refused to help him further. Aelous dosent seem a douche at all in original version right? Well he had 6 sons and 6 daughters and had them all marry each other soooo yeahhhh view that has you will

Leonidas

It seems like more of an attempt at justifying his actions to me, rather than an apology.

Ruthlessness is honestly one of my favorite songs. In its own way its so haunting and I live for that. Though I do have my doubts about Odessyes honesty in the opology. He is a man known for solving his problems with a silver tongue after all. It almost sounds fake to me.

Victoria

A detail I love is that when Aeolus proposes the 'game', it sounds very much like she says "if you *wind* you will get what you're yearning". I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that Telemachus' eyes are blocked out because Odysseus hasn't seen him since he was a baby, so doesn't know what he looks like now.
