Circe Saga - Puppeteer/Wouldn't You Like | Early Access Reaction

just to let you know. Jorge also worked with Mircsy (and some other animatic creators) over the last few months. one cool one is a short animatic of "done for" done by mircsy on jorge's channel. https://youtube.com/shorts/8hPjs_Av1DI?si=iLwGjbz6EtwgYCTo (recommend watching a full animatic first before this one also. what I liked about Circe in Gigi's animatic. she seemed. so... gentle. she didn't look evil. she looked like a caring loving big sister or mother. (also, hermes flirting with his great grandson is really fitting for greek myths)

Also, I know you haven’t watched any of Jay’s behind the scenes videos, but he talks about a leitmotif in this specific one that I would love for you to know about and listen for moving forward because it is SO interesting where he puts it (and where he DOESN’T put it!), since it’s a musical cue for when “danger is near”. https://youtu.be/UUSaxguf-zk?si=4ztHgtdFjqZ8-9Ea

Others have already commented that Hermes is Odysseus’ great-grandfather, which explains some of his desire to help Odysseus, but I haven’t seen anyone else comment on how Hermes is also the god of travelers! He tends to be the most “helpful” of the gods for various Greek heroes simply because he likes causing mischief and helping out those under his areas of influence. As travelers trying to get back home, Odysseus and his crew are definitely the kind of people Hermes would randomly come down and help out, though originally in the Odyssey he made himself look like an old man since the gods tend to disguise themselves when approaching mortals. I think it’s more fun to have him just be outright divine when approaching Odysseus though, especially when the scene is condensed down into a single song without much room for a follow-up reveal scene of “omg, Hermes?! It was you who gave us the root?!” Hermes’ songs absolutely steal the show for me every time he shows up. We have an unfinished snippet of a future song of his and it’s just as much of a banger as this one!! Jay has made a lot of really interesting choices and changes for the adaption and I quite like all of them so far! It’s really hard to figure out what to change and what to keep the same when your adaptation has to shave off details and even whole scenes due to time constraints and such. As for other animatics and future sagas, I would prefer you to react when things come out and then do another pass for animatics when they release! It’s fun seeing you pick up on things both musically and visually, plus having another pass for animatics gives you a chance to react to others from previous sagas that might come out later. I don’t think it would be ‘milking’ for content, especially if you keep the extra animatics just for Patreon, since you have such good observations and reactions. Plus, watching animatics for the Troy saga again would allow you to pick up on things you might not have noticed the first time or leitmotifs that you hear come back later and realize where the source is!!

Definitely both

For the Underworld Saga and Sagas going forward I think it would be cool to see your reaction to the songs on their own. BUT then revisit them as animatics a week or two before a new Saga drops.

I think the note structure at the start of puppeteer is supposed to be the “give me till sunrise and if we don’t return then 600 men can make this whole place burn” part of full speed ahead

A fun fact is that the singer for Circe, Talya Sindel, is Jorge's girlfriend. They met when Jorge was holding auditions for the role of Circe. Another fun fact is that Hermes is Odysseus's great-grandfather, so maybe Odysseus gets some of his wit and mischievousness from him. Hermes was sung by Troy Doherty, who makes music of his own and has acted a bit. Also, I believe both Talya and Troy are American, so they don't have British accents. They both just put one on for their songs, which were very convincing, in my opinion.

For the Underworld Saga, you can watch Jorge's Livestream video. He basically compiled several animatics he asked the community's animators to make (such as Mircsy, etc.), and put them together. I think he'll put the Livestream to rewatch on YouTube soon.

Alright got ya, I was worried for a moment. Thanks for the info. 😃

Hey Felix! Updating the patron list is way more of a challenge than you might expect (Because I have to manually check and update every name), and therefore I usually only update it every month or so. Your name will be there for all videos coming out in May or later!!

My personal preference would be for you to react to the song and then do another reaction to the animatics. I can enjoy the former. Because of visual issues, the latter I may not be able to appreciate. Having listened & watched your complete reactions, combining would seem the better option.

I love your point about Hermes being above the rules of diegetic music so he can go off on those runs! There's another animatic I've seen where he starts giving a bit of shoulder shimmy along to the music which gives a similar effect.

I just realised that my name was missing from the patreon list at the end. If that's because of the message you send me then I apologise, for some reason discord on my phone wouldn't show me that I had a message from you. I only saw it after I checked discord on my pc, which I rarely do these days. 😳

You should really watch the short of Jorge and Troy (Hermes singer) in the forest singing a clip of Wouldn't You Like. It was posted alongside the Circe Saga release. It's fantastic and you should give it a look even if you don't end up reacting to it for a video. Link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2eH2gpQiRFg

At this point I am fully convinced that Odysseus is both the smartest and stupidest man in all of Ithica. "Ask followup questions!!"

Volran

I too am a simple man... but mostly for Hermes! Voiced by the magnificent Troy Doherty. Honestly he stole the show for this whole saga as far as I'm concerned! I love his vocals and energy so much.
