Patreon Rewards need to change :(
Added 2024-07-14 22:23:48 +0000 UTCHonestly? I never thought I would grow beyond the capabilities of what I promised the last time I remade the patreon. I thought I gave myself some very realistic goals and rewards that I would be able to fulfill forever!
But guess what? Your support is SO CRAZY that it isn't just overwhelming me, it's overwhelming the very platforms and technologies that I use! I got so many reaction requests in May/June that it maxed out beyond what the patreon polls are capable of handling, AND, the list at the end of my videos is so long that Adobe itself can't even handle the text files. Things need to change.
At the end of the day, how my patreon changes will of course be up to me. But I wanna be transparent and honest, AND, I wanna hear your feedback. So here's the rewards that are causing issue, and I wanna know how YOU all would think to adjust them
Reaction Poll Submissions ($10) - With so many people at this tier, I get more suggestions than the patreon polls can handle, AND, a lot of suggestions lately are musicals I already plan to do later and therefore cannot include in the poll
Song Cover Submissions ($5) - Basically, same as above, too many great submissions to fit in a poll!
Name Credit ($5) - Man, I do NOT wanna have to change this one! At face value it's one of the easiest, free, non-time consuming ways to reward you for your support! But you are literally overwhelming the amount of text lines that Mason's software is capable of handing, sooooo something unfortunately needs to be somehow adjusted

I'm just happy being able to donate to the work you do. I'm not fussed about names in credits but would really love someone to do the SpongeBob musical as people don't realize how amazing the music is and it needs more fans. It's not just for kids.

2024-07-17 15:16:10 +0000 UTCFor names, someone already gave the idea of having them in a picture rather than words; for submissions, I think it would make sense to keep voting in polls as lower tiers perk but move actual submissions to the top top ones, since those actually put more work on your plate. Also about the musicals you’re already planning to react to but which are popular - maybe add an additional perk to one of your tiers that could give a sneak peak of reactions you have planned for the future? I know I’d love that perk, and it would also limit people trying to submit songs from smth you’re planning to do anyway!

2024-07-15 11:39:23 +0000 UTCI'm stuck at the $10 their until my yearly subscription is over. But I was already planning on getting a higher tier once it ended, so whatever works easiest for you. For the credits though, some youtubers just make a credits image for low tiers and do the fancy scrolling and fonts for higher tiers

2024-07-15 02:45:09 +0000 UTCFor both reaction poll and song cover, one option would be to let the $5 and $10 influence the order in which you target your existing list of submissions, and move submissions to higher tiers. It would give patrons in lower tiers an ability to influence your content without adding to your plate. The credits perk is harder to adjust but also...while it's an easy perk to give, it's also most valuable to more dedicated fans. Just tack it on to a higher tier and be done with it.

2024-07-15 00:40:16 +0000 UTCI’m not too sure about the credits, but I think having polls be taken in on discord and suggestion through discord would be easier. So have specific channels dedicated to each. I know a couple of other YouTubers who have done it and it has worked really well for them!

2024-07-14 23:15:28 +0000 UTCI'm not super concerned about submitting reaction poll or song covers. I like having my name in the credits, but it's not a deal breaker. As long as the $10 tier remains early access to unedited videos, anything else is just added bonuses to me.

2024-07-14 23:05:51 +0000 UTCHere are my thoughts: Reaction poll submissions/Song Cover submissions-I think that it would be a good idea to close these submissions for a while, since you are getting a lot that you are going to do. Name in Credits: Maybe you could put these names in the description? But that might be too much so I think the best option would to keep this perk for the higher tiers. It is a hard decision but in my opinion we are supporting you because we like your content, having our names in the credits is just a small thing.

The only thing I want is early access to videos, so I can stay relevant and up to date in the community. $10 is the max out point for that and tbh, it's still the first Patreon pledge I'm going to look at scaling back if things become tight. But I don't need my name in the credits. I don't need to make suggestions for the polls. They do not impact my pledge in the slightest.

I don't know if altering options for the polls will do much of anything. Or Alternatively, perhaps polls could be moved to the YouTube Community tab? Although to make it exclusive, moving to YouTube subscription? Maybe
