What Comes Next/Dear Theodosia - Hamilton Reaction ft Casper Fox

Comments

Bro that “Tomorrow there’ll be more of us” HIT 😭

Kat

We also heard that Burr was an orphan in “Aaron Burr, Sir”. Hamilton asks how he managed it, he says it was his parents’ dying wish, Hamilton responds “You’re an orphan! I’m an orphan!”

Seiryunohoushi

True didn't think about that

Eep

So, the day my husband and I brought our son home from the hospital after he was born, Dear Theodosia started on my playlist. My husband who is not a musical theatre guy at all, broke down so hard, that he had to pull the car over.

Anon E. Mouse

That one is always bleeped in the show, so it doesn't count.

Lauren Groen

I asked in a YouTube comment as well and he said he’d like to show that one and First (REDACTED BECAUSE ITS A SONG TITLE) which I’m SO excited about

Mal

Yeah, my heart sunk when I realised that he realised he forgot

Phoenix Mackenzie

Apparently the answer to that is a solid nope

Phoenix Mackenzie

Pretty sure congratulations is on the plans

Phoenix Mackenzie

Agreed!!!

Ace Trainer Aster

Congratulations is phenomenal. I hope they enjoy it together, even if it's off camera!

Kory Misun

Everyone John had recruited were forced to go back to their masters after his death. Alexander's 'so much work to do' was fueled by that news, to abolish slavery if he could and get every slave their freedom.

Kory Misun

If you don't know the answer, or simply don't want to answer, that's completely fine. But are there any plans on showing Casper anything from the Mixtape that didn't make it to the stage? More specifically, Congratulations?

Ace Trainer Aster

Sit down John you fat mother****er

Eep

"Knock me down I get the *** back up again" and "southern mother **in democratic republicans"... what is the other one??

Mortius

I would like to simply mention on the part where Mortius says he wouldn't mind us leaving. Be a gigachad and be in all 3 patreons. Cmon, we can do it I believe >:)

Basilily

Mortius I didnt want to spoil casper but there are three F bombs in hamilton not 2

Eep

it's even more tragic because the regiment of black soldiers Lawrence led were forced back into slavery when their advocate died

Lexi Rasmussen

Same!

Elsa

I was thinking about commenting on this same thing!!! Whether they were actual love letters or not, there is no doubt that Hamilton and Laurens had an unbreakable bond. Laurens' Interlude gets me teary eyed every time I merely think about it.

Ace Trainer Aster

The death or John Laurens hurts so much more when you’re aware of the relationships they had😔 especially if you’ve read their letters. Also makes Hamiltons grief more understandable.

Elsa

Hoo boy....watching this late at night when I have work tomorrow was not a good idea, but I just couldn't wait any longer to see this specific reaction 😭 and though it wasn't a good idea, I'm glad I did

Ace Trainer Aster

Man, I started crying way too early cause I was listening to the Hamilton Mixtape earlier. Ykyk

RiteTheWrongs

Mortius. You need to stop breaking Casper!

Imara121

I really completely forgot that would be in this recording session until I saw her in the background

Mortius

Oh wow I wasn't looking at him when I first watched but. 😭

Sorry to double comment about the John Laurens bomb reveal, but it’s really a genius thing to keep a secret for album-only listeners until they finally go to watch the show. Cuz Dear Theodosia is such a BEAUTIFUL and adorable song, and Non-stop is an absolute banger, and Hamilton sounds so plucky and happy in both. So the reveal that Hamilton is actual grief-stricken and overcompensating to both avoid his emotions AND make up for a “failure” to protect a loved one (even if it isn’t his fault) hits so much HARDER. He cannot, WILL NOT throw away his shot because he has to make the country a safer place so that his son won’t have to go through something like he has, like Laurens had

Mal

Mortius’ expression as he sees Eliza and remembers the small but DEVASTATING reprise song that’s about to play was so real 😭😭 Dear Theodosia really sets us up emotionally just to COMPLETELY knock us down with the next song

Mal

“Dear Theodosia” was my first favorite song from the show. Such a beautiful lullaby. No surprise reviewers and critics often reference Leslie’s “silky” voice.

Ms. Chuck Terry

Jonathan Groff is a notoriously spitty singer. From ‘Spring Awakening’ with Lea Michelle to ‘Hamilton’ to ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ to the current ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ with Daniel Radcliffe. Audience call the first two rows the splash zone.

Ms. Chuck Terry

John was my Polites before Polites was a thing dang I always tear up every time I love this reprise

Zakksu

YEET

draeonic 🪼

Oh yeah 😆🤣

Mortius

Understandable!! See you over on OAR!! ☺️

Mortius

"What?"

Alcaria Swain

Thank you for including the segment about John Lauren’s death.

Dorothy Rosenberg

I am going to lower my pledge Mortius because Hamilton was the only thing I was really excited about on your channel st this point. But I'm sure I'll bump my pledge back up every time an Epic the Musical saga drops

Alcaria Swain

Yes known as "mad king George"

Phoenix Mackenzie

King spits because he was know as crazy king George he at times was unfit to rule because of his madness

Cecereads23

Oh, yes! I second this recommendation!! That is precious!!!!

Annie A.

The king spits just because of the the person playing the role but When you think of the kings parents being cousins it makes sense he was just messed up

Geveryging

The letter did say that Laurens was killed in a gun fight against British troops retreating from South Carolina, so it's possible he did know the war was over before he died, if the British were retreating. But it's still tragic that he got caught in the crossfire of that last skirmish.

Deb

"You're an orphan? Of course! I'm an orphan!"

Deb

22:49 also in his first song "Arron bir sir" he says 'it was my parents dying wish before they passed"

Chase Elmquist

"don't tell Odysseus that there's an infant in the room" listen it's Perimedes you have to worry about

draeonic 🪼

Sobbing because I also forgot that Laurens' death came after Dear Theodosia

geekygiraffe

Notice Mulligan and Lafayette up above during Lauren's interlude

Jonathan Fleischer

To butcher a quote from Book of Mormon - "it's a [song] about America a long long time ago"

Jonathan Fleischer

If you haven’t seen it yet, go to Layne Stein’s channel and look for his adaptation of this. He was doing birthday videos for his youngest daughter, and his adaptation of this song was beautiful. His wife and other daughters also participate, even though his oldest daughter had just gotten her cochlear implant not long before.
