The Spanish version of this song was incredibly popular at the time. The final Spanish line sung by Cesar translates to "total eclipse of the love." More Fun Facts: In an interview about the pending Broadway run of his hit musical, "Tanz de Vampire," [NOTE: the US show was called 'Dance of the Vampire" and was a flop due to many changes made to the original], the song's composer, Jim Steinman, told Playbill magazine "...with 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' [NOTE: called "Totale Finsternis," or "Total Darkness" in the European musical]. I was trying to come up with a love song and I remembered I actually wrote that to be a vampire love song. Its original title was 'Vampires in Love' because I was working on a musical of Nosferatu, the other great vampire story. If anyone listens to the lyrics, they're really like vampire lines.
