2024-09-02 15:43:23 +0000 UTCHi! Raise your hand if you have a massive crush on Amber Grey, Persephone's actress! It's me, I do. Persephone is my favorite Greek God, hands down, not even close. And I am very picky about depictions about her, because *waves at Persephone mythos* I sort of have to be, its a zoo out there. And Hadestown's Persephone is at the top of a very short list, by a very long mile. And about 60% of that is entirely down to Amber Grey and the way she plays Persephone, the physicality, the expressions, the grit in her voice! She owns the stage whenever she's on it, she's the only thing I want to look at when she's there. Sorry is something happening to Orpheus and Eurydice? Too bad, Amber Grey is here, I need to dissect all of her acting decisions. I would kill for this woman. So like, that's my big bias in all of this. I simply adore this character and her actress. You mentioned how in the animatic, Persephone really shines as the only spot of color and I want to point out that, yeah thats how it is on stage. Everyone else is in these muted browns and blacks and greys; even Hermes, while bright and his waist coat is almost reflective under the stage lights, he's really not as blue as he looks in the animatic. He's more of a silvery grey. So Persephone just pops among everyone else, she *really* stands out. She's truly the first blush of spring in the play, the first color, costuming wise at least, in the cast. Also, since this comment is just me gushing about Amber Grey at this point, let me mention her dancing! They gave her an incredibly distinctive style compared to everyone else so, once again, she stands out. I can't fully put it into words but there is so much character and personality in it, its over-exaggerated, its a little bit intentionally sloppy, it really adds to her characterization of being, lets be generous here-- a drunkard. She does a lot of knee kicks, a lot of slightly off balance slides. Her dress has these giant shoulder ruffles that she'll lean forward and shake; there's a lot of shoulder movement actually. I wish I could better describe it but I don't actually know much about dance, sorry. HOWEVER, while I am bad with the words, thankfully Livin It Up on Top is one of the songs they used for publicity! Which means you can find legitimate recordings of it performed for the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Today Show. They're shortened versions of the song and missing some of my favorite moves, but you can still get a good feel for her dancing, not to mention a real good look at her costuming, including the fur coat this animatic doesn't give her, which I do miss for some reason. I will now stop gushing about Amber Grey to instead gush about this video. Thank you so much for going back to this song to give more of your thoughts about it now that the misunderstanding has been corrected. It didn't bother me at all, I enjoyed it, its the kind of thing I watch reactions for! But it was still nice to get to hear how your interpretation of the song changed and how your feelings and theories shifted now that you knew it was all happening above ground. Watching you react was a ton of fun even the second time around! Also, really enjoyed the bars from We'll be Fine! Nothing like the pain of a Greek myth to distract me from the pain of a ... Greek myth. Wait. Anyways, can't wait to see more! Very excited!

I really appreciate your honesty about everything with your viewers and how understanding, kind and open to suggestions you are. I have been looking for reactions like yours where the person is just so visibly interested and excited about what they are watching. It's wonderful.
