2025-05-12 21:12:31 +0000 UTCI love this version, but I think they wanted to get away from "the disabled person is not disabled in the afterlife" which obliquely implied death was "better" for him - I don't think they meant this specifically and didn't mean harm but I'm glad they've updated it in various ways. I think in some productions Ricky doesn't use crutches - his quirk is he just stops talking and takes a vow of silence since his grandparents and cats made up a language.

It technically *is* a bootleg, but I *believe* it was filmed by the production team for preservation and sort of "stealth" released. The video was what made it super popular even though it didn't last off-Broadway and there are productions everywhere now. Yes, it's an existential crisis, but in the best way. Also - be aware this is a one-act musical with no intermission that runs 90 minutes. This is a good thing as there's no real place for a break.

There has only been one disabled actor who plays this character, and he was fired for being “too disabled” ie they wouldn’t accommodate his disabilities. In more recent versions of the show, his disability has been erased from the script. I highly recommend checking out more after you watch the show.

I think it flows into the second half better, and with a certain desperation that just hits harder. Can’t wait for the rest!

But if you pay for Spotify (idk if you do, but I would guess so), which is $10/mo, consider switching to YT Music, included in YT Premium, which is $14/mo. I suggest this for 3 reasons: 1) you are always (understandably) frustrated by ads 2) because the $4 difference is probably money you'd save in paying your editor(s) bc it would cut down on raw footage time 3) Spotify has been very loud about supporting things politically that you have been very clear about being against. I could write another about the juxtaposition of This Song Is Awesome vs Talia. Sugercloud is just my absolute favorite because of resonance. The ending song is the first time I’ve ever cried during a musical and I was raised on them. I have seen many many many moving musical numbers none of them broke me. I also recommend checking out the album version of the second song in your free time! It’s very different, and in some ways not as cool but I like it much better, personally. Oh boy oh boy oh boy 😃

I hope you love it just as much as I did! Oh, also, not relevant right now, but the first song, “Fall Fair” for this performance, has actually gone through like 4 revisions! Save it for later, but once you’re done, I would highly suggest looking up the big animatic by Rileyclaw for The Uranium Suite! And the RTC Opening Mashup! This one is wonderfully haunting, but the others do a better job of setting up how the kids felt about their town and their life before everything happened and it’s so cool I highly recommend it

One, yes you are correct about only seeing five people. It will be explained. And I won’t point out what you have predicted correctly but you are channeling Karnak already. As for the footage you are using, I’m pretty sure you will be alright. Videos using it got taken down early on, but over time it seems like whoever owns the rights has embraced it. Most videos using the footage have been fine for the past few years. Also RIP to Fall Fair Suite. I love Uranium Suite but god this version is so special. Enjoy! This is a fantastic show.
