Happy to help, even though your gonna have to learn popular songs never sacrifice songs you enjoy playing, always keep it fun for everyone

Thank you

Corey Butler

I just wanted to share what has helped me with gigging, for example playing cover songs with different bands and musicians, be open to exploring all styles of music, if I had to play 1 style of music I'd go crazy so I learn from everything one of the most helpful things is think of your notes as numbers relating to the major scale and natural minor scale so it will be easier to play songs in different keys if the people your playing with don't do a certain song in the original key but I suggest learn every song in the original key first because most of the time you'll play the songs in the key of the record, youtube is going to be your best friend with this because you can save videos to playlists that you create then put them in any order, personally I like A-Z by song name. Go out to your local bars that have live music & take notes of what songs these bands are playing, pay attention to what songs the crowd is excited about, meet these musicians in these bands then eventually they'll let you play 1 or 2 songs with them Check out jam sessions & open mic nights then get to know these musicians, there used to be a really cool newspaper called the recycler that had an awesome music section where people would list all kinds of instruments for sale, that newspaper had categories called musicians looking for bands & bands looking for musicians, it's really cool cause you could place your own ad for whatever you're looking for. I'm pretty sure it's online now just type recycler.com to check it out this gigging thing doesn't happen overnight, I've failed a couple of auditions in the past until I found a more constructive way to practice, once you find consistent practice you're happy with people are going to keep asking you to play with them I highly suggest studying some music theory & different rhythm patterns if you haven't already The way I look at it is keep having fun & never stop, you're gonna wanna throw it against the wall plenty of times but don't get discouraged because you can make positive things happen
