2024-04-01 21:43:49 +0000 UTCAfter seeing this episode for the first time, I sort of wondered if maybe Hama wasn’t actually the first bloodbender, but that it was a forbidden technique or that knowledge of it was destroyed. And Yakone seems to imply that it’s something that’s been passed down from his ancestors, so maybe similar “hunting trips” were a family tradition. Cuz it really wouldn’t be that hard for multiple waterbenders to rediscover bloodbending throughout history. I’ve seen a lot of ATLA reactors sort of guess bloodbending after the swamp episode, but they write it off because it’s a kid’s show. So like, if a bunch of different people just watching the show could think of it, it makes sense that other people before Hama in the show thought of it as well.
