Fallout 1x8 | Reaction & Review (UNCUT)

The city at the end is Vegas. That tower was the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino.

The code that Hank enters to activate the cold fusion is the date that the first Fallout game was released. 10-10-97.

My favorite part of this episode by far is when norm turned on the lights and the convo went: M: "Oh Shit! It's all of them! Being...." D: "Cooked?" M: "No." Also, Meesh, from when Hank killed that raider without hesitation and no remorse in episode 1, calling out his killer instinct was amazing. You clocked him immediately. Even made off the cuff comments about it in a few other episodes. Finally, don't know if someone explained this, but Cold Fusion was bought by Vault-Tec because the war being raged was over resources. If unlimited energy was released, no one would need hard resources any more, the war would stop and all those vaults would be useless, probably causing Vault-Tec to go bankrupt. This is by far one of my favorite shows I've seen in a while, not only because I am a fan of the lore and games, but because I've never seen a show so neatly tie up everything in one finale as well. Caught up on this. Now it's time to catch up on Vox.

I feel like Norm can just threaten to bust up Bob's brain jar and he'll concede. Bob's obviously needed in the process of reawakening people, so I'm pretty sure he'll let Norm go if threatened. Norm will just have to super duper promise to not start a riot like in 32.

Marines, I think.

To 2) Yes she did, but she needed muscle to get an overseer out of a Vault and either had not enough men or wanted to spare their lives and hired a raiders gang instead. She probably didn't think about meeting Lucy, who she only met for a short time long ago and certainly not to the bride. And given her experiences with the overseer of especially that Vault, she probably never had any regrets doing this. After all he whiped out the whole city she lived in. πŸ€”πŸ™‚

That last one was a wild ride, reveal after reveal. I can't wait for season 2, but that'll probably not air before 2026...πŸ€©πŸ™ˆ Thoughts about the show: Bud is the RoboBrain: You get the first clue that it is him, when you hear the same music coming from his car radio, that Norm hears at the end of ep. 7 in vault 31. And his ridiculous blabbering gives him away. The ghoul that recognizes Lucy is one of the ghouls she freed at the Super Duper Mart, the one who thanked her. Bud mentioned time as the ultimate weapon of mass destruction at the commercial shoot in Vault 4. In-show it is unclear who really dropped the bombs. They certainly were ready to do it, but on the other hand would Barb never let her daughter go with her father to a kids birthday party if she knew that they would drop the bombs the same day. πŸ€” IRL I read somewhere that the creator of fallout had said that the Chinese beat Vault Tec to dropping the bombs. We'll see which way they follow. Lucys heart got broken in so many pieces in just a few seconds. Her whole world and everything she believed in got shattered. What Lucy said about her skin baking in the sun when she was little? She really was in the sun, but that memory got partially buried and deformed. Another bitter irony of her story was that they gave the fusion core back to the citizens of Vault 4 because Lucy thought it would break her dads heart, if she killed an entire community just to save him. Turned out, it was the other way around. Her dad broke her heart because he killed an entire community that wanted to live their own version of the future, not Vault Tecs and that his wife chose over a life with him...πŸ˜¨πŸ™ˆ Lee Moldaver and Rose McLean were most certainly a couple. Why else would she keep a feral ghoul (chained to her chair) near her, if not because the person that the ghoul once was, was important to her. Her last words to Rose and taking her dead hand are pretty obvious signs, too. πŸ’– I wonder if Dane feels more than just friendship for Maximus. The way they look at him and risking their own life by telling the truth about their injury is pretty big...πŸ€”πŸ™‚ The ghouls family is not in Vault 31. That is just a middle management experiment Vault overseen by Bud Askins. Barb is a high level ceo at Vault Tec. If she is alive, she is in a vault that controls all the other Vaults, including Vault 31. Neither could Hank McLean bomb a city of 34.000 people on his own, nor could Bud Askins have the means or manpower to repair a destroyed Vault over night, like they did with 32. So there must be a higher authority...πŸ€”πŸ™‚ By the way, did you ever wonder why the brotherhood was present in Shady Sands so shortly after the bombing? Maybe they were involved in it? That would be another hearbreak for Maximus...πŸ€” Super Mutants are also creatures from the game. When Wilzig left the enclave, you could see the hand of one sticking out under a blanket on a stretcher for a second. So they actually got made, we just haven't seen them yet. 😱 Lucy left Maximus his hand gun and took a machine pistol. She has it strapped to her back when she and the ghoul leave the observatory. Her "Okey dokey" lost all it's optimism and is just super dark...πŸ’”πŸ™ˆ The skull at the end belongs to a Death Claw, the most dangerous creature in the Fallout games. Hank went to "New Vegas". One of the Fallout games (probably the best one) takes place there. I gave the show a 9/10 on IMDB and my favorite episodes where 4, 6 and 8...πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ˜ƒ But my favorite moment (because it hits so deep) is from ep. 1, the incredibly heartbreaking line of Coopers daughter: "Is it your thumb, or mine?"πŸ’”πŸ™ˆ It was so great to watch this show with you, looking forward to the next great series...πŸ€©βœ¨πŸ‘ŒπŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ P.S.: EDIT: After reviewing the first episode recently I have to say, the most funny moment for me were the shocked faces of almost every one, when Lucy casually mentioned the "cousin stuff". Lots and lots of "Huh? What did she just say?" - faces...🀣 The fact that a cyanide pill (Plan D from ep. 2) was the most humane thing Vault-Tec ever created is such a good picture of just how terrible of a company they are.

Also forgot to mention. The ghoul who recognized lucy is the one from the super duper mart that she set free along with the rest of the ghouls in a previous episode.

Cooper wasn't part of the brotherhood. The Brotherhood is an organization founded a while after the bombs dropped, and they seek to salvage and preserve pre-war tech, including the mechsuits. It wasn't a big point, but in one of the flashbacks, Cooper mentioned serving in the US army prior to becoming an actor - he fought wearing one of them.

To me, Maximus had the most interesting character arc. The arcs for the ghoul and Lucy were pretty predictable, but hard to see where Maximus will land, where he is going, throughout the show. Maximus joined the brotherhood to be able to fight those that hurt him (that bombed his city, his people). Maximus wants to be a knight to have the power to make the world a better place. He does end up becoming a knight. He does so by exterminating the last of his people. By becoming known as the man who killed Moldaver, his people's hero. Everyone knows who Moldaver is. I imagine a lot of them will hear Knight Maximus is the one that killed her.

Simpelicity

1) A lot of the Vault ideas mentioned were Vaults from the various games. They didn't even do the most messed up ones. 2) I mostly agree about moldaver, but she brought a bunch of bad guys into the vault. Look at Monty. She loses points for that. 3) You should rewatch the credits of the last episode, it tells you where Hank went. 4) I definitely agree Moldaver and Rose were a couple.

Excuse My Brains

Loool that thumbnail, already know which part that's for xD
