The Legend of Vox Machina 2x9 | Reaction & Review (UNCUT)

It’s really unclear because in that scene she refers to Wilhand as her grandfather after reminding Grog earlier that episode that he’s her great-great-grandfather, and after Grog recounts the scene she says “I never knew” as if she’d not been there. Many reactors seem to be unsure if it’s supposed to be Pike or her grandmother.

Bernhard

Yeah I was baffled by the timing, the inconsistent references to Wilhand Trickfoot, and the hair.

William Timmins

Dee you gotta cut that out. You starting to tear up just makes me start tearing up and then we have a whole blurry eye situation going on. Great reaction, can't wait for season 3!

Slick447

That makes sense too

Yea it could be they changed it completely. I also think it might be that in the show they don't have any body hair but they can have hair on their heads and that's why he was still excited to get the beard.

Amber

Congrats on being the first reactors I've seen to clock that it was indeed Pike in the flashback. Most seem to initially assume it is her mother.

Chris (darkwater)

The Herd is made up of other species as well. The big one at the gate was likely a half orc. You can spot them by the two tusks on the lower jaw. Also.. remember the book "Tusk Love"? The guy in that story is a half-orc.. get it.. tusk love...... anyway... :) As for the Grog's cousin and some others who do have hair; likely they chose not to stick exactly to the biology of Goliath's from D&D itself, probably more to do with copyright since they call them half-giants in the show (which is just what a Goliath is). They just kept Grog being excited about the beard all the same.

Chris (darkwater)

Grog and Pikes relationship is great :)

Pikes hair is white and use to be black/super dark brown. There is an in game reason for the change but it is kind of sidelined to just this flashback in the show so far.

Justin Smith

Pike, Percy, and Cassandra's hair all turned white due to stress. There are stories of it happening in the real world but I don't think there's any medical proof of it. Pikes hair color change was from an event during the campaign pre-stream. Hopefully they drop that backstory bit into season 3 somewhere.
