GODZILLA vs. KONG | Reaction & Review (UNCUT)

Comments

A little late as I've been catching up with your journey through the monsterverse, but seeing this one in theaters was definitely a once in a lifetime experience along with seeing the one before it too. I remember riding my bike uphill for two miles just to see it in theaters on it's release day and I got the front row. It was loud and it was awesome. When Kong was about to finish off mechagodzilla, I almost screamed from pure excitement, which is something I never do in a movie theater or in general. This movie is also special because it arguably saved the movie industry after COVID did a number on many of the industries as it showed that movie theater experiences are still special and relevant. There were also some tears shed, including during the scene where Kong and Godzilla go their separate ways at the end in Hong Kong, not to mention people didn't know what the future of the monsterverse was after this movie due to the pandemic and the mixed reviews with the previous movie. So they made the ending for it seem like it was the end, but still open for possibilities if it did well.

Thanks for always sharing your two cents with us in the Monsterverse—you’ve been great throughout our Monsterverse journey! Loved how this movie focused on Kong, his heritage, and his truce with Godzilla. The Hollow Earth and Ghidorah's influence on Mechagodzilla were awesome tie-ins. Such a fun movie overall! 🦖💥🦍

Good reaction! I kind of explained my thoughts on the discord but this was a fun movie. The Monsterverse is one of the few cinematic universes that was able to get to their goal which was to have Godzilla & Kong in a movie together. Due to the mixed reception “King of the Monsters” had, they decided for this movie to be a more of a lighter tone similar to the 60’s to 70’s era of Godzilla movies. This shift kind of was the reason some people weren’t fans of this movie & the sequel because things get crazy & the humans aren’t developed well at this point because people go to see these movies for the monsters. This is also the first movie where a titan was the focus. Kong was really the main character as we follow his journey learning about his heritage & gaining Godzilla’s respect. The axe is a piece of Godzilla’s spike that Kong’s ancestors built when they were at war with Godzilla’s species. Also the Hollow Earth was actually teased all the way back in Kong: Skull Island. The reason the characters went to the island in that film was to find proof of titans & the Hollow Earth. King of The Monsters showed Godzilla’s temple as a place near a Hollow Earth portal. The reason Mechagodzilla acted on its own was because Ghidorah took over when they used the power source. It’s why Godzilla was aggressive the whole movie. He sensed Ghidorah’s presence every time Apex activated the robot. You can see the rage in Godzilla’s face when he realizes Ghidorah came back as the Mecha. In the end, Godzilla & Kong both made an uneasy truce. Godzilla understood Kong won’t bow no matter what so he spared him as his way of saying thank you for saving his life & Kong understood he isn’t the enemy. So they’re not friends but they respect each other.

Fun fact (King Kong 1976) Rick Baker wore the monkey suit he is a very famous movie makeup artist. I still consider this King Kong the best ever. Just my opinion hope u guys watch it one day on your channel ❤️❤️

Great reaction again 😍😍😍😍

Kong being carried by the helicopters is a direct reference to King Kong vs Godzilla from the 60's, there's a lot of little references here and there to that movie like Kong shoving the axe in Godzilla's mouth - ridiculous, but entertaining. This movie imo, suffering from carrying baggage from King of the Monsters, which the next movie improves a lot on and I can't wait for that reaction, it's my fav Monsterverse film. (I also recommend the Monarch TV series)

Fun facts: Throughout the Hong Kong fight scene it’s confirmed that Godzilla was toying around with Kong because he was very confident in himself that he would win against him that is until Kong hit him with the charged up axe right to his head and which broke Godzilla’s pride so Godzilla was furious about that and quickly stopped playing around in the 3rd round as he defeated Kong very quickly. When Godzilla had his foot on Kong, Godzilla could’ve killed him there but he spared him because Godzilla was a bit impressed by Kong’s extreme persistence and Kong was pretty much beat so Godzilla just left him to his fate. Kong hasn’t submitted to Godzilla though. When they both give their farewell at the end basically Godzilla lets Kong live as long as Kong doesn’t set foot into his territory again which is basically the whole surface world. So the 2 alpha titans now have their own domains, Godzilla rules the surface world, while Kong rules the hollow earth. Can’t wait for GxK I think you guys will love. One thing’s for sure the next film will have multiple more titans just like in King of the Monsters not just Godzilla & Kong.

Now that you've seen and love these movies, I think you'd love my Godzilla sleeve tattoo! There's probably only one or two things that you don't know on here, but I think you'll recognize and appreciate most of it! https://imgur.com/a/daftbasterd-tattoo-final-Q9Xsj#0

Kong got a few good hits in, but what is a king to a God?

Nicholas Nguyen

What a good reaction, and they've almost reached the end of the monsterverse. I hope they bring Godzilla x Kong the New Empire soon.
