Blue Eye Samurai 1x4 | Reaction & Review (UNCUT)

So the girl signed back no... she didn't want to die but Mizu had to do it to get the info from Madame. That's why Mizu was shook up after leaving the building. The bird she killed symbolized the deaf mute girl... an innocent life taken in the crossfire of mizu's path to revenge.

First, I would like to say thank you for joining and supporting ☺️ That's a really interesting perspective! You bring up some great points about the historical context and Mizu's actions. It's cool to think about how all those factors would play into how people perceive her. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

3:14 , "How do you not know [Mizu] is a girl?" So, at this time, malnutrition would have had left most people, both men and women, thinner and lithe than Europeans w/ thier diets of heavier meats and fats. There are classical reports from Europeans citing how 'effeminate' the Japonese were, even compared to other Pan-Asiatic cultures. Secondly, by carrying the weapon out in the open, Mizu would have tried to hide herself within the cultural aspect. This is also referenced in Ninjitsu manuals, where assuming the styles and mannerisms of a certain class made it easier to blend into that culture, in this case, the Samurai culture was expected to be male, so by pretending to be a Samurai, she would be assumed as male, at least until anyone looked closer. Thirdly, having grown up in this time and culture, with the fore knowledge that she could be killed for any number of reasons, including impersonating Samurai class, and disguising her femaleness.. so, Mizu would have an active reason to hide her truths and would do everything she could to encourage the Male demeanor. So, ultimately, it's less about how do people not recognize, and more a credit to Mizu for keeping the charade up as long as she did.

I love how much this episode reminded me of playing old school Tenchu (stealth assassin games before the AC era). Also, notice the bird that Mizu had to contend with in the attic? The bird is a recurring icon in the series.

I subbed JUST for ep. 5 !!!

Unfortunately I can't say what I want the most to avoid spoilers..πŸ˜‰ But yeah, a tough episode leading Mizu to lowering her guards and showing that her emotional armour isn't unbreakable... Meanwhile Taigen's honor is pretty strong in not giving infos about Mizu. And Akemi is very determined on taking control of her life and making her own decisions. I bet we will get the "fav episode so far" on the next episode again..😜 Great reaction, thanks a lot🧑🧑
