Well, I'm here to tell you that this song DOES NOT EXIST and Curtis Mayfield NEVER recorded it.
Today, we're going down a rabbit hole. How did this happen? If this isn't Curtis Mayfield, who is it and why does everyone think it's him? And as we find answers, we just might find more questions.

I remember when Massive Attack did their version and I looked for the original and got lost. I was 18 then ,no Internet, but finding music in great record shoos,was how I found great stuff ,accidentally and by getting what I wanted.

A little bit more about William: he was a Jehovah's Witness and wrote "Be Thankful" as a spiritual uplift to himself and his religious community against commercialism. Back in the early 70's no less! Kinda ironic that the theme of the song many seem to resonate with in taking samples from it is less "spiritual" and more about flaunting wealth.
