i loved this episode, i thought it was emotional and had a great monologue by the doctor!

Oh man the Long Song + Monologue has me streaming with tears every time. Murray Gold and Steven Moffatt are the perfect pairing

2025-07-07 20:34:15 +0000 UTCI would probably rank this as my second-favorite monologue of the whole series. There's a kind of "space whimsy Shakespeare" language invented by the show and we get lots of snippets from start to current day. The doctor will suddenly wax on about "cascading nebulas" and "empires of shining glass" and "silver trees set ablaze by a crimson alien sky" or the like. It's extremely evocative imagery with ideas just vague enough to make you yearn to hear more, said in the cadence of a poem or campfire story. Every once in a while, they really dig in and deliver a beautiful bit of extended dialogue. I have extremely romantic notions about space and there's no mystery as to where that sentiment comes from.
