This was something I perfected along the years in the comics, and specially with "THE VOID" as I decided to skip the "dark shade" layer I use in Derideal and still made it look the way I like it.
I decided a simple style in XEN for trying out how well the style performed, as it's a bit more quick to paint compared to Derideal that has lots of extra shade and light layers.
