I knew the victim's sister. She was good friends with my ex and we were out with her and her husband when her family called with the news.

Not surprised because it’s Canada. They don’t punish anyone like we do. If you feel like killing do it in Canada - maybe youll get 10 years. Not to mention if all those people on the bus had gotten together to get the knife away hed still be alive.

Disagree with the folks saying they would have stepped in and stopped Vince. Knives are a lot more dangerous than people seem to think. Youre gonna rush an armed attacker in tiny bus aisle? Additionally, the driver and another man did try to save the victim but were unable to make an approach. If someone else on the bus had a weapon, then it could be reasonable to try to stop Vince, but otherwise its really risky and nobody even knew what was going on (was Vince defending himself? Etc). Obviously in hindsight we see how horrible this was and can imagine we are super heroes and what do the perfect thing but thats not how these things seem to play out.

Not Canadian, but I did live in Canada for 2 years. I learned a lot about this case. You read about it from time to time in the papers, even today.
