Twilight: We Are Venom! - chapter 12

I stared down and the dying girl, who struggled to keep herself together with a chilling sense of pity, I was no doctor, I couldn’t save her, and even if I were a doctor, the medicine of the time was not ideal to treat this level of trauma, at least we saved her from losing her dignity before dying, we took solace on that fact.

“Rest,” I muttered, getting ready to continue with my nightly hunt when all of the sudden I felt something approaching me from the back, as Venom hissed within my mind to jump, doing so I saw a group of three vampires, two males and a female, “The food is out, and the roaches come out and play,” We hissed, venom taking presence in my voice.

“He… has another voice inside his head…” The youngest looking of the three vampires commented, looking shocked and somewhat intrigued, a telepath hissed Venom in tangible disgust, and I had to agree with him.

We studied the young vampire with detail, his facial features were very symmetric like most vampires, looking perfect and angular, he also had high cheekbones, a strong jawline, a straight nose, this was all a trap, built within them to lure their prey. His hair was messy, with a shade of bronze that made it shine every now and then. His eyes, like all of them, showed the true colours of his species, red… the eyes of a monster.

“I know… I know I’m a monster,” The vampire muttered, reading once again our mind.

“Get out of our head!” We roared in anger our arms slamming into the ground in an unexpected fit of rage, we glared at him for a second before we turned around grabbing the closest car from us with our tendrils and with great force hurled the car at him, the vampire dodged with relative ease, but during this brief second, we saw the other two move vampires move to the dying girl we had left behind, “GET AWAY FROM HER!”

“They won’t hurt her,” The mind reader said, trying to calm us, but did give him the opposite result, who did he think he was…. A beast like him has no right to tell us anything.

“We will keep him occupied, try and save her,” The woman sighed, smiling at the blonde-haired vampire, before moving to help the mind reader, and we scoffed, one or two, it would make no difference, we had killed entire covens, numbers would only delay the inevitable for a bit, if they were lucky, with a hiss we moved forward, but immediately notice something different on her and halted, she had golden eyes, why did she have golden eyes… Why was she different from all the vampires we had killed?

“It’s because she’s a vegetarian,” The mind reader stated, why couldn’t he stay away from our mind! “I can’t, I can’t turn it off,”

We gave the vampire a dismissive growl, as we studied the woman, she had a beautiful caramel-coloured hair; her figure was slender, yet rounded and soft, like all of them, she was a seductive trap for humans, and yet her eyes were golden.

We shook our head, why were we hesitating, these beasts took Alice from us, they….destroyed her body, there was a time we had hope she had been converted, but… after a decade without smelling her… we knew the chance of her being alive, even as a vampire was non-existent.

“I’m sorry for your loss,” The mind reader muttered.

“That’s it, you are dying first!” We growled, rushing at him… his powers were annoying.

“We are done!” The blonde-haired vampire said, carrying the now dead body of the girl we had saved from a gang-rape, “I’m sorry for whatever our species did to hurt you,” we halted once again, his eyes were also gold… was the mind reader being honest, was there such a thing as a vegetarian vampire.

“Carlisle invented this way of living,” The mind reader stated, “He has never drink from a human, he is the best of us,”

“A likely story,” We hissed, shaking the doubt of my head, for all we knew they could have the power to change the colour of their eyes, beyond the three colours we had seen, red, black and pink.

“He won’t believe us, Carlisle,” The mind reader said, taking a step back, “Our kind hurt him too much, he only sees the monster inside of us, and I can’t blame him, one of us killed his sister,”

“A most tragic event,” Carlisle sighed, why was that name familiar, we felt it was important, “I’m sorry, but I can’t let you kill us,”

“Your compliance is not a factor,” We laughed, grabbing the mind reader by the arm with a web, before slamming him into the ground with enough force to break the concrete, “We are the ones that get to decide who lives and who die,”

“Then you are no better than us,” Carlisle replied, as the female helped the mind reader stand up.

“What did you do to the girl?” We asked, narrowing our eyes at him… she was still alive, we could feel it, but her body was changing, we had a guess it was the vampiric transformation taking place, we had fought newborns before, but witnessing how they came to be was a mystery for us.

“I tried to save her, but her wounds were too severe,” Carlisle much to my surprise, “But, she was beyond my skills…. So I turned her,”

“And who gave you the right?” We hissed, what if the girl wanted to die a human, instead of becoming a monster.

“I agree with the monster,” The mind reader commented, “I didn’t have the time to read her mind, I was otherwise occupied with his mind,” he pointed at us, “So I don’t know if she agreed or not,”

“Monsters…. We are not a monster, our name is Venom,” We hissed, wondering why were we humoring them, why weren't we killing them, perhaps was the fact we were curious about their so called vegetarian diet, we didn’t know.

“I… she wasn’t conscious when I bit her, so… if anything happens... I will be the sole responsible,” Carlisle assured, “We don’t have to fight, we are not your enemies Venom,”

We simply stared at the vampire, not knowing what to do.
