Chapter 29: A Day with Amber

Amber was grilling me on why I was stealing the Holy Lyre so I had to tell her what happened to calm her down

“Why did you steal the Lyre! I thought you were a good person. Was it all a lie!

“I’m sorry Amber, please give me time to explain.”

“Then explain to me.”

“Well, it all started when Lumine and I finished our meeting with Jean…”

I told her about our meeting with Venti, our fight with the Eye of the Storm, our request to the church for the Lyre, our plan to steal it, the Cicin mage who stole it, and our getaway meeting with Diluc. She asked a lot of questions and I made sure to explain to her fully

“So you were trying to get the Lyre to talk to Stormterror but the Fatui got to it first then the guards caught you so you had to run away?”

“Dvalin not Stormterror but yes that is the gist of what happened.”

“I guess I understood why you did it and I’m glad you were trying to help Mondstadt, but why did you not just ask Jean to get you the Lyre instead of simply stealing it?”

“It would take too long and we needed three signatures to get the Lyre. Maybe we could convince Jean to help us but I don’t think the other two parties will cooperate since our plan is hard to believe.”

“I guess you’re right… The Lyre is a historical artifact we just can’t lend it to anybody. Oh yeah, what was with those webs on the knights? They were really hard to get them off with just cutting through. We had to burn them off carefully to free the knights.”

“Oh, that I got a new Progisekey yesterday. It was based on a spider, I have to tell you it was very useful when I escaped. All my others would have harmed the guards but with Trapping Spider I got to safely disarm them.”

“Heeh~ a new Progrisekey huh? I hope to see it soon~.”

“If I got the time I’ll show it to you.”

“Really? Thank you! That’s a promise.”

“I promise.”

“Oh yeah, you are meeting tomorrow with Master Diluc for your plan right?”

“Yeah? Why?” I tilted my head, I didn’t know where this was going

“I’m coming with you!”

“Eh!”

“Since this involves the fate of Mondstadt as the Outrider of the Knights of Favonius it is my duty to help. Besides someone needs to keep an eye on you, especially the problem you caused today.”

“Sorry…” I said with my head down

“Then it is decided.”

With Amber coming along the plot is getting different. I guess with my involvement things will be different. I should not heavily rely on my knowledge of the story. Some things may be different from what I know. I guess all the more necessary to be cautious

“It is still tomorrow right your meeting. It is only 9:00 what should we do? I don’t have any duties for today.” Amber asked me what should we do to pass the time

“Then… how about we go on a date.”

“Fuee! D-d-d-date!” Amber was caught off guard by my suggestions that her face was red as a tomato

“We are going out so it should be normal and we are both free so why not have a date,” I said as if it was a matter of fact. Amber was thinking about whether or not she would accept while her cheeks were red

“Then… let’s go on a date…”

“Then let’s go!” I got up and grabbed Amber's head pulling her outside

“Wha! Hey slow down will you!”

We went down to the marketplace of Mondstadt to look at the stalls but Amber was embarrassed that we were holding hands.

“Look Amber they are selling new goods that stall.”

“Um…”

“Wow look at that stall, that skewer seems delicious.”

“Um…”

“Amber, are you okay?” I was worried as she was still in a daze

“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine.”

“First time going on a date?”

“Uh… yeah… It’s my first time I don’t know what to do”

“Don’t worry it’s my first time to. I don’t know as well but what I do know is that we both need to have fun. So don’t be embarrassed, let’s do this together.” I said with a bright smile trying to make Amber comfortable. Amber looked at me and she was in a trance for a bit before all of her doubts disappeared

“You’re right, let’s go have fun!” Amber pulled my hand as we ran through the marketplace

“Hey, who needs to slow down now.”

“Hahaha come on!”

We stroll to the marketplace looking at the different items the clerks are selling and sometimes trying on accessories we find beautiful or funny.

“Neh, Jun look at this. I look like samachurl. Bweh!”

“Hahaha! That's funny.”

We also ate food at the nearby stalls that smelled amazing. This one stall sold amazing grilled fish on a stick

“This tastes amazing,” I said

“I know right, I always try to grab a bite when I pass here. Buckner thank you for the delicious food as always.”

“Thank you for the business. Have fun on your date you two.”

“Hehehe we will,” Amber said with a blush on her cheeks but no longer embarrassed but really happy at the moment

We both went to Cat’s Tail to have a drink to cool down. We sat down on an empty table and Margaret the owner served us

“Ohya Amber and Jun welcome back again are you two here going to order?”

“Yes, Margaret,” said Amber

“Oho~ are you two on a date.”

“Yes,” Amber said smiling happily

“Ohya congratulations you two. I was wondering when you two got together.”

“Hehe, thank you, Margaret.”

“You two came at the perfect time. There is a special drink for couples only would you two like to order that.”

“Yes, we would like to try it.”

“Then please wait for your order.”

After a few minutes, Margaret came back with our order. It was a large mixed fruit drink with two straws that formed into the shape of a heart

“This is pretty embarrassing,” said Amber

“Yeah, but since we already ordered it it will be wasteful to not try it.”

“You’re right let’s try it.”

We both took a sip at the same time and the drink tasted amazing. It was slightly sweet with a refreshing and slightly pulpy taste. As I was drinking I looked at Amber’s eyes and she too was looking at me. We continued to stare at one another and we both smiled enjoying this moment.

We finished our drink and left Cat’s Tail. When we were outside Amber made a suggestion.

“Jun let’s go wind gliding I know a perfect spot to glide.”

“Lead the way my little bunny,” I said teasing Amber

“Moooh~” Amber was a bit embarrassed with the nickname

We both went to a cliff outside of Mondstadt where we could see a great view. It was breathtaking the Mondstadt and Windrise were in view and so were the Thousand Wind temples in the far distance

“The view here is amazing.”

“I know right this is the place I go to take my mind off of things and to have a great time riding the winds. I always wanted to show you this.”

“Thank you, Amber, I will always remember this view.”

“Hehehe, Come on take out your wind glider and let’s go!”

Amber said with great enthusiasm. I took mine out and equipped it. We both stood at the edge of the cliff and got ready to jump

“Ready,”

“Ready, as I’ll ever be.”

“Then 3, 2, 1, Jump!”

We both jumped and glided in the air feeling the wind washing over us

“This is fun right!” Amber said with a smile on her face

“Yeah! It is even better with you!” I held her hand intertwining her fingers as we both glided beside each other

“Me too!” Amber said with a bigger smile on her face

As we were both gliding in the air I suddenly had an idea

“I have an idea to make this better!”

“Eh! What is it!” I gave her a smirk as I took out my Zero-one driver

[Wing!]

[Authorise]

[Fly to the sky!]

[Flying Falcon!]

[Spread your wings and prepare for a force]

I transformed into the Flying Falcon Form and flew. I picked up Amber in a princess carry and flew into the sky

“Woah! Please warn me next time!”

“Hahaha! Sorry, but this feels amazing right.”

Amber felt the feeling of flying without the need for her wind glider and she saw the amazing view as she had never been this high in the sky before

“This is amazing Jun… and you’re right this feels better.”

“Right? We can freely soar in the sky like a bird with nothing holding us back.”

“Yeah just like the stories I read as a child.”

We continued to fly up high in the sky in silence with the amazing view below us. The sun was beginning to set and the orange glow of the sunset was amazing to watch.

“Jun, thank you for today. This was probably the most fun experience I had. So… thank you…” Amber said feeling happy and fulfilled

“This is going to be the first of many Amber. I will strive to always make you happy. So don’t think this will be the last as we will have more dates in the future.”

“Yes… I can’t wait for those.” We both stared in silence at one another and our feelings had reached it’s peak. My helmet revealed my mouth and we both brought our faces closer as we kissed with the sun’s glow basking over us
