Destroyer Through The Multiverse Ch 11
Added 2024-07-18 23:06:18 +0000 UTCTatsuya Kadoya was back on the battlefield, the scene of chaos and destruction where he had fought alongside the Hulk against the Abomination. The ground was littered with debris, and the air was thick with dust and the acrid smell of smoke. Emergency responders moved swiftly, attending to the injured civilians, while SHIELD agents worked tirelessly to secure the area and capture the now subdued Abomination.
Tatsuya wandered through the wreckage, feigning a search for clues about Kamen Rider Decade. It was a performance for those around him, a necessary facade to maintain his cover. He crouched down occasionally, examining a piece of shattered concrete or a twisted metal beam, giving the appearance of a dedicated investigator.
The destruction was immense. Buildings bore the scars of the fierce battle, their facades cracked and windows shattered. Vehicles lay overturned, some still smoldering from the intense heat of the conflict. Civilians, dazed and injured, were being led away from the scene by paramedics, their expressions a mix of fear and relief.
Tatsuya's thoughts wandered as he continued his mock investigation. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt seeing the collateral damage, but he knew it was necessary to stop the Abomination. The devastation was a stark reminder of the power he wielded as Decade, and the responsibility that came with it.
After thirty minutes of this charade, Tatsuya’s phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking his train of thought. He pulled it out, noting the unknown number on the screen. Curiosity piqued, he answered.
“Hello? Who is this?”
"This is Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD." The voice on the other end was unmistakably authoritative.
Tatsuya was momentarily taken aback. “Director? Why did you call me?”
"I know Coulson tasked you with finding Decade." Fury's voice was as direct as ever. "What's your status? Any progress on finding this 'Kamen Rider Decade'?"
Suppressing a grin, Tatsuya found the situation mildly amusing. “I’m on the scene, Director. Still gathering information. It’s been chaotic down here.”
Fury's voice carried a hint of impatience. “We need answers, Kadoya. Decade is an unknown factor, and I don’t like unknowns. Find him and report back immediately.”
"Understood," Tatsuya replied, maintaining a professional tone. "I'll keep you posted."
"Good," Fury said before the call abruptly ended.
As the call ended, Tatsuya couldn't help but chuckle. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on him. He was the very Kamen Rider Decade that Fury was so intent on tracking down. Slipping his phone back into his pocket, he turned to find Agent Phil Coulson approaching, a relaxed smile on his face.
"Tatsuya," Coulson greeted him with a nod. "Got a moment?"
"Sure, Phil. What's up?" Tatsuya replied, his demeanor lightening at the sight of his friend.
Coulson gestured for them to walk, and they made their way through the bustling streets, now filled with emergency responders and curious onlookers. "Did you just get off the line with Fury?" Coulson asked.
"Yeah. He's pretty adamant about finding Decade," Tatsuya said, smirking. "Any luck on your end?"
"Well, we have plenty of footage," Coulson admitted. "But as for concrete information on who Decade is or where he went, we're still in the dark."
Tatsuya nodded, maintaining his poker face. "It's a tricky situation. This guy's good at covering his tracks."
Coulson glanced at Tatsuya, a knowing look in his eyes. "You seem pretty calm about all this."
"Just doing my job," Tatsuya replied with a shrug. "Besides, the less we know, the more interesting it gets, right?"
"That's one way to look at it," Coulson said with a chuckle.
Coulson's expression turned more serious as they reached a quieter area, away from the main chaos. "Listen, Tatsuya, I know you have your methods. But if there's anything you know about Decade, anything at all, it could really help us."
Tatsuya met Coulson's gaze, considering his words carefully. He trusted Coulson, but there were some secrets that needed to be kept. "I'll let you know if I find anything useful. Promise."
Coulson seemed satisfied with that and changed the subject. "So, how's life been treating you? I heard you had a bit of a run-in with some local thugs a few days ago."
Tatsuya laughed. "You heard about that, huh? Yeah, just a misunderstanding. They didn't know who they were dealing with."
"I bet they didn't," Coulson replied, grinning. "You always seem to find trouble, don't you?"
"Hey, trouble finds me," Tatsuya corrected him playfully. "I just know how to handle it."
They continued walking, chatting about lighter topics. Coulson shared stories about his recent missions and the quirky characters he'd encountered, while Tatsuya recounted his own adventures, carefully omitting any details that might give away his secret identity.
As they passed a food cart, Coulson stopped and bought two hotdogs, handing one to Tatsuya. "Here, on me."
"Thanks, Phil," Tatsuya said, taking a bite. "You know, for a guy working for a secret organization, you sure know how to pick the best street food."
"It's a talent," Coulson replied, smiling. "Plus, you can't beat a good New York hotdog."
They found a bench nearby and sat down, enjoying their impromptu meal. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the city, and for a moment, it felt like any other day. But Tatsuya knew better. The world was changing, and he was right in the middle of it.
"Do you ever wonder," Coulson said after a while, "what it would be like if we didn't have to deal with all this? If we could just be... normal?"
Tatsuya thought about it, staring at the skyline. "Sometimes. But then I remember that normal is overrated. Besides, who wants to be normal when you can be a hero?"
Coulson chuckled. "Spoken like a true hero. But seriously, Tatsuya, if things ever get too crazy, you know you can always count on me, right?"
"Yeah, I know," Tatsuya said, feeling a sense of camaraderie. "Same goes for you, Phil."
They finished their hotdogs in companionable silence, watching as the city slowly transitioned into night. The lights of New York City began to twinkle, and the sounds of the bustling metropolis filled the air.
As they got up to leave, Coulson checked his watch. "I should probably get back to the scene. Fury will want another update soon."
"Yeah, and I should keep looking for this elusive Decade," Tatsuya said with a wink.
Coulson laughed. "Good luck with that. If anyone can find him, it's you."
They parted ways, Coulson heading back to the chaos of the battle's aftermath, while Tatsuya wandered the streets, deep in thought. He knew the hunt for Decade would continue, and sooner or later, he would have to reveal more about his true identity. But for now, he was content to play the game, enjoying the thrill of the chase.
As he walked through the dimly lit streets, Tatsuya couldn't help but reflect on the delicate balance he maintained, juggling his dual identities and the trust of those around him. It was a challenging path, but one he was determined to navigate with skill and integrity.
The city's skyline loomed in the distance, a symbol of resilience and progress. Tatsuya felt a sense of responsibility, knowing that his actions as Decade would shape the future of this city and its people. He was committed to protecting them, even if it meant keeping secrets and facing the unknown.
