I nodded confidently. "I'm sure of it. This is where we agreed to meet her, after all."
Sure enough, as we drew closer, I spotted a small figure sitting on the edge of the fountain, wrapped in a large brown cloak with a hood. Strapped to her back was an enormous backpack that looked almost comically large for her petite frame.
I couldn't help but wonder how on earth she managed to carry that thing around. It must weigh a ton, yet she seemed to handle it with ease.
As we approached, the figure looked up, and I recognized the shy, cautious gaze of Lili.
"David-sama," she greeted us respectfully, dipping her head slightly.
I flashed her a warm smile. "Lili, I'm glad you made it. Please, just call me David. No need for the -sama." I gestured to my companions. "This is Lunamon and Bell Cranel which you already met, the newest members of the Hestia Familia."
Bell stepped forward, his eyes shining with excitement. "It's great to meet you, Lili! We're so glad to have you join us."
Lunamon offered Lili a friendly wave. "Hello, Lili! I look forward to working with you."
Lili seemed a bit taken aback by our enthusiastic welcome, but I could see the faintest glimmer of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, everyone. I'm honored to be a part of the Hestia Familia."
I gestured to the towering structure of the Babel behind us. "Well, now that we're all here, shall we head inside and get you settled in?"
Lili nodded, adjusting the straps of her massive backpack. "Yes, I'm ready whenever you are."
As we turned to make our way towards the entrance, I couldn't help but steal another glance at Lili's backpack, still marveling at how she managed to carry it so effortlessly. Perhaps there was more to this petite supporter than met the eye.
Nonetheless, I was eager to introduce Lili to the rest of the Familia and get her integrated into our group.
Here is the story continuation from the perspective of David Miller, approximately 500 words:
As we descended deeper into the Dungeon, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation mixed with trepidation. The hallways had become shorter, the ceilings towering above us, and the walls were coated in a thick, mossy growth. This eighth floor was undoubtedly more treacherous than the ones we had faced before.
Lunamon moved closer to me, her eyes scanning our surroundings warily. "David, I sense something approaching," she murmured.
I nodded, tensing my body, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. "Be on your guard, everyone. Stay close."
Suddenly, a deafening chittering sound echoed through the corridor, and a swarm of massive, armored ants emerged from the shadows. My eyes widened as I recognized them as War Ants, formidable creatures that posed a serious threat.
"Lili, focus on supporting Bell!" I called out. "Lunamon and I can handle the ants."
Lili nodded, her small frame disappearing behind the towering figure of Bell Cranel as she readied her crossbow.
Bell gripped his sword tightly, his eyes narrowed in determination. "I'm ready, Captain. Let's do this."
Lunamon and I sprung into action, my ghostly powers manifesting as I unleashed a barrage of ectoplasmic energy blasts. Lunamon's Tear Shots struck the ants with devastating accuracy, while Bell's sword sliced through their thick carapaces with each swing.
Lili's crossbow bolts rained down, providing crucial support as she picked off the ants that tried to flank Bell. Her aim was impeccable, and I couldn't help but be impressed by her skill.
The battle raged on, the corridor echoing with the sounds of our struggle. I dodged and weaved, using my intangibility to phase through the ants' attacks, retaliating with powerful ghostly strikes.
Lunamon's movements were a blur as she danced around the ants, her agility unmatched. Bell, too, had grown in strength and technique, his sword a blur as he carved a path through the swarm.
Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of a War Ant sneaking up behind Bell, its jaws gaping wide. "Bell, behind you!" I shouted.
But before I could react, a well-aimed crossbow bolt struck the ant, felling it instantly. Lili had spotted the threat and neutralized it with precision.
I flashed her a grateful smile. "Nice shot, Lili!"
She nodded, her expression focused as she continued to provide covering fire.
With our combined efforts, we gradually whittled down the swarm of War Ants until the last one crumbled into dust, leaving behind a glowing magic stone.
Lunamon let out a relieved sigh. "That was quite a battle. Well done, everyone."
Bell sheathed his sword, his chest heaving. "Thanks, Lili. I couldn't have done it without your support."
Lili ducked her head shyly, but I could see the pride and satisfaction in her eyes.
As we regrouped, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in our Familia. We had worked together seamlessly, each of us playing a vital role in our victory. With Lili's addition, I had a feeling our strength was only going to grow.
Turning to my companions, I said, "Alright, let's keep moving. I have a feeling there's more excitement in store for us on this floor."
As we continued deeper into the Dungeon, I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at how seamlessly we had worked together to overcome the War Ants. Lili's support had been crucial, and I was impressed by her skill.
"That was an impressive display back there, David-sama," Lili said, her voice soft but sincere. "I've never seen anyone fight with such... power and grace."
I felt my cheeks warm at her unexpected compliment. "Ah, it's really nothing special," I said, rubbing the back of my neck sheepishly. "Just doing what needs to be done, you know?"
I glanced over at Lili, curious to learn more about this petite supporter who had joined us on our Dungeon expedition. "So, Lili, tell me a bit about yourself. What made you decide to become a supporter?"
Lili averted her gaze, her fingers fidgeting nervously with the strap of her massive backpack. "Well, I... I'm just a poor girl trying to get by, you see. I don't have much, but supporting adventurers is the only way I can earn a living." Her voice was tinged with a hint of sadness.
I frowned, sensing there was more to her story than she was letting on. "I see. That must be a difficult life. But you seem quite skilled with that crossbow of yours. Where did you learn to shoot like that?"
Lili shrugged, her eyes downcast. "I-I've had to learn to defend myself, that's all. The streets can be a dangerous place for someone like me." She paused, then added in a quiet voice, "I don't really have anywhere else to go."
My heart went out to her. Clearly, Lili had faced hardships that I could scarcely imagine. I reached out and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Well, you're with us now, Lili. We'll do our best to look out for you, I promise."
Lili looked up at me, her eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and uncertainty. "I... I don't know what to say. Why would you want to help someone like me?"
I smiled reassuringly. "Because that's what the Hestia Familia does. We look out for each other, no matter what." I paused, then added, "And I have a feeling you've got a lot more to offer than you let on."
Lili opened her mouth as if to respond, but before she could, a loud roar echoed through the corridor, signaling the arrival of our next challenge. I turned to the others, my expression serious. "Alright, everyone. Let's move out!"
