I get why Rebekah is all mad at Elena for daggering her, but I also totally get why Elena did it -- it was the closest they'd gotten to killing Klaus in months, Rebekah was already expressing doubts and regret, and Elijah had betrayed them the last time they'd had a real chance to kill Klaus. And lets not forget that Rebekah is hardly an innocent party. She acts like Elena daggered her and she'd never done anything to Elena -- the first time they met, it was with Rebekah's teeth in Elena's neck. Rebekah nearly tore Elena's throat out because... why? Because Elena had accepted a gift from Stefan, without having any way to know the necklace had once belonged to Rebekah's mother? So, while I understand why Rebekah is angry at Elena and don't think she actually deserved to be daggerred, I totally come down on Elena's side in all of this.

None of them knew what Kol was doing to Matt, so it just looked like Damon attacked Kol which is why they initially reacted like that. Also, I think it was less Damon saving Matt, and more Damon being reckless and using Matt as an excuse. Kol insulted Damon earlier after all. Damon never seems to care about Matt in the slightest.
