I mean, the last thing she said to Jimmy in this episode when it was actually not-possessed-Amelia talking was "You're crazy. Stay away from us." MY HEART!!! As for Castiel's changed demeanor at the end, he wasn't brainwashed, more like tortured back into submission. Anna said that what was happening to him was "Painfully, horribly bad," and yeah. I don't think it's said explicitly, but Zachariah is basically middle-management and an enforcer-type. The stuff in 4x17 and 5x04 with zapping Dean and Sam into alternate lives without their memories/a possible future is pretty much how he rolls. Dude likes mind games. You'll see more as time goes on, and he has other... skills which he uses for "persuasion". Once you see that later stuff, you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks as to what was done to Castiel in this ep.
