I was too until I remembered she was born in 1995... so I ate my prunes, read a newspaper, and went to bed at 8:30.

But when he disappeared, I had assumed it was just patterned after the Bible story of Elijah the prophet, who got swept up into the sky and disappeared at the end.

"Chuck was basically representing him . . . "
Answers her first comment in the reaction, "Why is Chuck talking?"
And makes it so much funnier when Chuck says, "The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass. "

So many covers to that song. Might be the go-to song for musicians wanting to show off their fiddling skills. :)

Appropriate reaction to the end there, Shan.
2018-10-10 16:42:26 +0000 UTC
Yes, it was supposed to be ending, because that's how many season Kripke decided to do. They altered the script and added the scene with Sam being out of the cage, once the network decided to go for season six, but Eric Kripke still left, because he said, that he already told his story. Chuck was basically representing him in that episode: a writer, finishing his work and disappearing at the end.

That's because they altered the script, once the CW decided to go with season six and gave themselevs an open ending with Sam being back. Originally, he wasn't supposed to be back and it was supposed to end with Dean staying with Lisa.

I do understand what you are saying, but I disagree with the entire basis of your justification. Doesn't matter. Shan was wonderfully spoiler free here and should stay the same. Any speculation by a fan is part of the experience and doesn't need our giving validity to one theory over another that a new fan might have. I didn't have anything to go by when I watched the show, and I'm very thankful of that - because it makes for a better overall experience. So, this argument has been given time and time again and every Reactor I've seen chime in has said that they DO NOT want us giving them this type of info. Some may be okay with it, but most aren't.

Shan - and anyone else interested - here are a series of links to Spoiler Free convention footage of some of the Panels from back during Season 5. I always love watching the panel videos. The ones from back then are not as good quality as the ones we get today. Technology has gotten better, plus it was hard to get footage and not get caught. Recording panels is officially not allowed. So that's why some of the footage is iffy. still worth watching, in my opinion.

Usually, I agree to keep information away, BUT when 5x22 aired, fandom figured out "Chuck" situation and when they were shooting following seasons, Kripke and Co knew that people know. So possibly the following stories were created keeping in mind that people watching KNOW about Chuck, that they have that particular information. Sorry, if it's confusing, I hope you understand what I was trying to say.

Big Hugs Shan! I felt so bad for you, watching the impact all of the revelations in this episode had on you. Your ending was the clincher. I could tell you were "DONE". Well, evil Eric Kripke wanted that sort of reaction. Yep. He's evil.
But, your tears were not wasted. It was still hard - our boys still deserve those tears shed for them. All four of them.
So, Cas is your Favorite character? Oh boy.
I want to share a safe - spoiler free - video with you done by a fan, showcasing the first 5 season's. Known in the fandom as the Kripke Era. <a href="https://youtu.be/kPbRJPIbgxQ" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/kPbRJPIbgxQ</a>

Amazing reaction, Shannan. I don't think I ever seen a more touching reaction to Swan Song. At 32:09 I was literally telling you via my computer screen "Breathe, breathe, breathe" and at 34:46 I wished I could hug you!

Scarlett - Umm. Your point is really not valid. San obviously is unspoiled about this show and she deserves our respect for her to stay that way.

Are you referring to "Chuck" situation or "Sam back?" situation? Because I think it's fair for her to know about Chuck, since pretty much the whole fandom figured it out at season 5.

People keep spreading the false tale that season 5 was supposed to be the last season. That is totally morphing the true story. What is true is that Kripke was ready to move on after 5 season's. The "story" continued to evolve, but the one Kripke, and the other writers started, was completed with this episode. The network, and everyone else connected to the show had no plans of ending it at Season 5, once the ratings improved. So, they moved on with the next chapter of the Supernatural/Winchester story.
Kripke hoped it would go five season's, but was really expecting it to get cancelled at any time during the first 3 season's. It was thought that Season 4 would be the last because of the low ratings, but ratings shot up significantly for Season 4, so they got carried over for another season - and it continued after that. Here is a nice short interview with The Boys, where it was brought up and dealt with a bit: <a href="https://youtu.be/JoZYuKkjWGY" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/JoZYuKkjWGY</a>

I know... Its a stressful show... I didnt know it was suppose to be the end... Make zero since since it left use guessing why Sam wasn't in the cage with Lucifer, Michael and Adam... I had to wait till the next season to find out and almost lost it. I wish i had been able to pause back then. Sorry, i feel for you, but i had to giggle at your pain just a bit since i know all the details now. Oh... You didnt know Chuck was just a figment of the imagination this whole time? JK... He's really a ghost and made ppl believe he was alive this entire time, now cool is that.

I don't know how that was supposed to be the series finale, when you see Sam alive at the end. There's obviously more to tell there. Anyway, good reaction as always and yeah, this is a tough one. To see so many main characters die and others come really close. Buckle up for season 6!
