4Tom4lepus4 -- I only just saw this comment, so sorry it's so late, but I gotta say, it's ridiculous to think Elena had any chance of snapping Jesse's neck quickly enough to save Damon's life. Normal vampires (not affected by the ripper virus) get stronger as they get older, and Jesse was too strong for Damon, who's been a vampire for close to 150 years, to fight him off. If Elena, who's been a vampire less than a year, had attempted to take out Jesse using less than lethal methods, it would have ended with Damon's head rolling on the floor and Elena herself as the next item on the menu. There is no chance she could have simply snapped his neck quickly enough to save Damon's life. Also, this part isn't directed so much at you in particular as at the fandom as a whole, but I wonder why I never hear all this hand ringing and finger pointing over the fact that Stefan staked Vicki rather than just snapping her neck.

Plus, Elena could have snapped his neck, if Caroline did that to the witches they'd still be dead. That said, it's a little tiresome that we have to repeat the whole "Damon is bad for you, Elena" thing with Caroline again. Nobody cared for it the first time...
