Siren S01E01 - The Mermaid Discovery FULL REACTION

Ryn ran into two guys, first "boring Ben" who wanted only to help her, brought her someplace safe and clothed her, tried to get her to see a doctor. after she ran away then she came across the sleaze bag who wanted to take advantage of her and possibly harm her. the show seemed to be trying to show the viewer the degrees of humanity.

I understand that it's a very real thing that can happen but the idea that it happens every single time is just ridiculous, not every guy is like that.

The scene with the guy in the car was stupid. Hate this idea that all men cant be left alone with a girl without him trying to assault her

Silly me. I went in expecting this show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirens_(2014_TV_series) I wondered what Arrhmn was thinking. Now I know. The actual show seems way more like something she'd enjoy then the one I was thinking of. lol

Shan quoting "8 Mile", I didn't see that coming :)

And Canada exports lots of acting talent to the US. Because that's where the jobs are. (As far as I know) the 1st was Mary Pickford - "America's Sweetheart" (born in Toronto). She did movies from 1909-1933, acting, producing, and co-inventing the craft of movie making. I think globally, people like Canadians because they tend to have good manners, even when they try to big jerks, like Ryan Reynolds, they still came across as good folk.

Taxes and labor union costs make Canada cheaper than the US for movies/TV making, I get that part - airfare makes Canada better than New Zealand (when the company is based in Hollywood). And BC seems to be try to become a hot spot for film - and they're crushing it. For story reasons, Supergirl (another export from Vancouver) needs to be set in a made-up American city. Why aren't any of the stories set in Canada? Why is Siren set in a made-up coastal town in Grays Harbor, WA instead of a similar made-up town in BC? I agree there's nothing wrong with Canada, so why say you're in the US when you're in Canada?

yeah seen this before not all of it. but it seemed ok.

Yes, I watched it while it aired. It's one of my favorite new shows. season 2 starts this month on January 24.

I wouldn't call a guy being a creep a cliché since it actually happens every single day everywhere in the world.

homoerotic 80s volleyball scene personified

Yup. Essentially some stereotypes or cliches exist for a reason. Dudes being creeps? Pretttttty common.

Regarding the guy in the car, I know it seems cliché but I think it’s cliché because it happens a lot. All I can tell you is the only time I hitchhiked as a teenager (and I definitely take partial responsibility as that was a stupid idea), the guy got a little weird. Not out right attack me but definitely put my hand in his lap. I’m not saying that’s ALL guys, I’m just saying that a guy willing to take a chance on picking up a hitchhiker may tend to be a little sketchy. Basically I’m just saying don’t hitchhike 😜.

Lostmyshoe22

Nothing wrong with Canada. I live there. I agree with Chris, by the way.

Ron Fehr

Not all. It costs the studio less.

Chris (darkwater)

I notice this is filmed in British Columbia pretending to be the United States. Are all the shows being filmed up there set in the US? The reason escapes me.
