They do stay true for the most part to the old cannon, but they also take a few liberties here and there. And with Geoff Johns as a producer they get to play around some. They also try and cast the best person for a role as suppose to trying to get the wrong person to stay 100% accurate to comics. Just enjoy the journey because this universe they have built and are building is amazing.

Sounds to me like an Australian whos been working with US criminals for several years, That would be weird, if someone's trying to not seem Australian, then they shouldn't have a boomerang. I like the "Superman suit" theory - it was all red and blue - that matches.
