The Vampire Diaries S05E15 - Gone Girl FULL REACTION

Comments

I do think that the whole Nadia not having a child thing since it had been hinted at is one of those plot holes they didn't think of very good, despite how well they did with many other things.

Keith Engel

The point of the spell making Katherine "permanent" in Elena's body was that, without the spell, Elena could "pop out" again at any time, and Katherine would only reemerge again if/when someone said the right magic word, which according to the transcript for 5x12 is "vyjdi". The knife could still expel Katherine after that point, but only the knife could do it, Elena couldn't reemerge again.

peggin

Wow... maybe I should read the books

Signe (Seena) Stewart

Klaus is also 6,000 years old and he was never human or at least he doesn't remember it.

Fly on the Wall

The books are fun, but vastly different. Elena/Katherine are angels in the books. Crazy stuff.

Fly on the Wall

A lot of the show's mythology is missing from the books as well. Katherine and Elena aren't even identical doppelgangers in the books. I can't remember if they even use the word doppelganger in the books.

Fly on the Wall

Damn... haven't read the books, so didn't know that

Signe (Seena) Stewart

You could ask her, but she was actually kicked off her series. The last three books were finished by a ghost writer I believe.

Fly on the Wall

Good point

Signe (Seena) Stewart

The entire reason we got the backstory of Katherine having a baby was to explain how Elena existed. The writers are free to change their history if they like to, but we can't pretend whey certain things happened in the first place.

Fly on the Wall

True. I guess the only one who can really answer it is the author of the books?!

Signe (Seena) Stewart

I feel like that explanation by the writers was a cop out once they knew there was a flaw with having Nadia turn herself into a vampire. Both the Tessa speech and the writers explanation came after Nadia was introduced.

Fly on the Wall

I felt sorry for Nadia, great reaction.

Emma goldsbrough

Again, never confirmed. Only assumed. By everyone including katherine. Can't remember if it's Tessa who said it, or if it was in an interview with the showrunners I heard it, but the doppelgangers have existed in all nationalities and all places. Only thing that is certain is that the male and female exist simultaneously, so they can find each other. There must have been one in existence in the 1860s, but katherine thwarted that outcome. Elena's is the paramedic, but stefan thwarted that one

Signe (Seena) Stewart

Yeah, but when we found out about Elena being adopted we discovered she's related to Katherine - thus meaning Nadia must've had a child as well.

The whole doppelganger thing is not actually a bloodline thing. It's just always been assumed that it was. Doppelgangers have popped up all over history ever since Silas and Amara became immortals.
