It was only a few years after Ellen came out on her sitcom(A move that resulted in the show being canceled a year later from advertisers pulling their ads due to boycotts), and was still a risky thing to write into any show on network tv, but helped change people’s perceptions about gay characters in shows(Shows like Six Feet Under were big in that regard also, but they were on HBO, and were immune to advertisers demands like network shows). Hard to believe how much things have changed in 18 years.

2018-05-16 21:34:36 +0000 UTCi absolutely love this episode! I think the whole thing was handled incredible well! We see that Willow still cares for Oz, but its just not the same anymore. Because she's moved on. She's in love with someone else now. And Oz is so sweet (apart from the whole freak-out with the werewolf thing, but thats not really his fault..) And Tara is so sweet! just ready to sacrifice her own wishes so Willow can be happy! I ship Willow and Tara so much, they're so cuteee! I'm one of those fans who LOVE Willow/Oz and i ship them alot but only in season 2-3 (and the first few episodes of season 4 i guess). And i ship Willow/Tara from season 4 ad onwards!! I think you can definitely do both!! I love willow/oz when that was happening, but now willow/tara is happening so thats what i'm shipping and i dont want her to leave Tara for Oz, cause thats just not where Willow is in her life anymore!

2018-05-16 20:51:15 +0000 UTCThis episode kills me. It took me the longest time to get on board with Willow and Tara, because I kept thinking that Oz couldn't be gone for good. I finally got totally on board with them in 4x16 and started shipping them, and then just a couple of episodes later and Oz is back. I spent the whole episode like, how the hell could Willow possibly choose? In the end, I do think she made the right choice (and not just because Seth Green wasn't coming back), but I can't even imagine having to be in a position like that.
