2020-04-18 19:04:15 +0000 UTCWhen it's life or death people will find a way to buy it. Pharmaceutical companies mark up the price on drugs like that all the time. They don't expect everyone to be able to pay for it, but enough will to make it so their profit margins go through the roof. A few years ago I got a liver transplant. Just before I got it my doctors made the decision that it was safe for me to get a liver that was infected with hepatitis C. Thankfully that is done now since it is now curable. The medications to cure that cost about $80,000 for a 12 week course. The companies have programs where they cover the cost and the government reimburses them. I was lucky and got a "healthy" liver though.
