When people stand there with a gun in hand, there's a literal lifechanging decision to be made. It's not a trope. Do you become a killer or don't you? How will that change you as a person? This is what we see going on at extreme speed when this "trope" is shown in tv programs

So even though she was technically dead, she could be revived with the right methods. Sort of like how you can die in the emergency room but still be brought back by the medical team.
