The thing with Stefan and animal blood is so funny that 2 spin-offs later and still needs clearing up... Animal blood was never the reason Stefan was a ripper, he wasn't able to control himself from day 1 (remember in season 1 they showed how he killed his father because he couldn't control himself)... Also remember that he meet Lexi decades after he turned, even after that whole "Monterrey" situation, he was already a ripper and Lexi helped get in control and animal blood was the solution he came up with to survive without going over the edge... Obvs in the show he goes thru the whole arc of little by little learning some restraint with a little human blood, which is what he should've done a long time ago but thats it. Here I think there is a few things... The school doesn't think is necessary for the vamp students to be in full strength, in fact it could be problematic if they are... Also I think the idea is kindof like training wheels, they don't tell the students that is animal blood and it is inside a normal blood bag; I think the idea is training them to not feed on living humans while keeping them under control... They are not teaching them to eat only animals, they don't know thats not human blood, I think the idea is to learn to feed from bags and not people... Because the fact that you can compel your victim doesn't mean they stop being an innocent victim of a vampire attack.

2020-11-11 02:10:35 +0000 UTCstefan was on animal blood because of his thirst for blood, he didn't just start drinking animal blood, that was his solution for his ripper gene. it's meant to look bad and is because he is taking her choice away, just because she won't remember doesn't make the his action not mean anything.
