It’s not so much that they’re trying to give her meaning but that they’re doing it in all the wrong places. When trying to show case Barry and Iris’s love they create a storyline to kill her off. When trying to give her a role on the team they attempt to make her a leader. Thats not so bad in my opinion but her biggest role and contribution to the story is her role as a reporter, which has pretty much been wiped out of existence since Season 2. It was used so sparingly in Season 3. And her biggest crown achievement article is Crisis? You mean Iris West isn’t capable of writing anything else other than that? You mean her reporter skills couldn’t be of use for Star Labs in whatever it is they’re fighting week to week and against the main villain for the big storyline? These are just in some of the ways the writers have failed Iris West, but in the biggest way is creating a chance for fans to hate her simply for existing.

Cisco has been around longer and has a lot more knowledge of the whole thing. I think they wanted to give her just as much meaning as Barry. Which unfortunately doesn't work for me.

2020-09-12 22:21:10 +0000 UTCI'm not saying that they should have done the flashpoint storylines from the movie or comics. I think that something you could have still done something with characters from Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. Barry might not have been the Flash, but Wally had powers. We can't possibly be sure what would have happened with Oliver, or Firestorm, or Hawkman and Hawkgirl and how this would effect the Legends. They could have come up with a story. Besides, I'm talking about what I wish they could do. Realistically, this wasn't going to happen. They already had one crossover planned for the year. They likely didn't have the budget or the time to do something like this and the other shows probably didn't want to deal with it as the start of their seasons. I'm sorry if it offends you, but all of this to say that I personally think they could have done more with Flashpoint than a single episode that just showed its effects on Barry's immediate surroundings.

2020-09-11 22:26:25 +0000 UTCWhat could they have done? Supergirl was on another Earth, and thus wouldn't have been a part of it, same with Superman. They hadn't introduced Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, or even Green Lantern, just slight mentions of them. So, their Flashpoint storylines could not have been done. The Legends were busy flying through the temporal zone and not affected. Black Lightning didn't come about yet. So, the only other one it could have affected would have been Arrow, which via Flashpoint, didn't exist if you think about it (he wouldn't have been there to save Oliver's life twice).

As for this season, I also think it would have been nice to see Cisco and Wally as the only heroes out there for a couple of episodes.

"It's a whole new way of looking at physics" when he was explaining the particle accelerator to Iris, while solving the 'poop problem'. "My dad's innocent, he didn't kill my mom" what young/kid Barry told Joe. We saw a clip of him saying that in episode 2 of season 1. "You said the city was safe, that there was no residual radiation" when he confronted Harrison Wells after the first encounter with Clyde Martin. "I'm not sure I'm like you Oliver" when he was talking with Oliver Queen on the rooftop. Some of the other stuff is quite interesting, or "bitchin' ". :D
