In all honesty they got engaged way too fast they were only together for less than a whole season. Also in fairness not having kids would be a deal breaker for me marrying someone.

2020-09-26 00:40:42 +0000 UTCWell, everyone in the fandom who followed the show live and paid attention to the news knew about Maggie leaving. Floriana Lima(Maggie) had a 1 year contract as a regular and decided not to renew it after season 2, so in season 3 in these first five episodes you can see her credited as 'special guest star'. I kinda gave up on them after those news(and those bloody news broke like a week after season 2 finale where Alex proposed) and so it didn't really hit me at all when they broke up, but I'm glad you went in blind and not knowing made you more invested in them and their split. They definitely intented to do something different with Sanvers.......but maybe they should have locked Floriana in for a couple of years instead of one)))
