2019-12-28 20:44:45 +0000 UTCIt's really quite simple, Death wants Sam dead because he'll always keep trying to find and free Dean and remove the mark, and if that happens The Darkness gets free, so in Death's mind Sam has to go as well so the mark will stay on Dean.

It's a huge risk to let it out, this aint nothin like the normal stuff they've dealt with, it is truly a biblical problem if its let out.

2019-12-28 04:40:43 +0000 UTCThe Darkness was there at the beginning of the Universe and it took God and all 4 ArcAngels to fight it and lock it away. The Mark was created as the lock that keeps the darkness out of the Universe. The mark was passed to Lucifer which corrupted him and lead him to become the devil. Someone has to have the mark to keep the darkness locked away. Death knew Sam would keep trying to remove the mark and so wanted to Kill him to stop him curing Dean and releasing the darkness.

As they willing go to any length to save people and hunt monsters even if it's not the best way to go about it. And while the Mark was the start of their problems the fact that Sam did everything to remove the mark (and did bully Charlie, he was aggressive with her) only not realizing the consequences it would have to destroy it. P.S. The fandom including me usually regards season 7 as the worst season.

2019-12-27 16:44:56 +0000 UTCDeath didn't want the Darkness to be released so he promised to send Dean away to a place where couldn't harm himself or others. In return, he needed Sam to die (and stay dead) as Sam would always try to find a way to release Dean from that place as well as from the Mark. Sam got through to Dean at end and when Death told Dean that if he didn't kill Sam, then he would which cemented his fate. I always liked that character. As much as the fandom disliked Sara Gamble as showrunner, she deserves enormous credit for creating Death in the Supernatural universe.

2019-12-27 16:23:56 +0000 UTCIn Death's first episode back in s5, Crowley mentioned that Death's scythe could kill anything even Death itself. The inconsistency here is that the scythe then and the one now are obviously different weapons when viewed side by side, but that's probably just an oversight by the writers.
